First Flight - A Bending Worlds Snippet. [Drabble/snippet]

This is a snippet I wrote for practice, using Bending Worlds settings and characters.

Context: Set in a steampunk world.

One. Eyes closed, Reese drew in a breath, preparing herself for the moment to come.

Two. The air rushed out of her mouth, taken away by the anything but calm wind.

Three. Her eyes snapped open, taking in the orange-brow cliff side for just a moment before shifting focus elsewhere. She broke into a sprint, pushing off the rock side with all the strength she could muster.

Reese hurled herself down. Down, down, down, down, into the abyss below. Down, Reese continued to fall.

Falling, falling fast. Falling down, down, down, down. Fast, faster, down. Down, down- click.

In one swift motion, the mechanical wings spread across the sky, slowing her descent into a smooth glide.
