Hello, reader, and welcome to this book.

*Regular text is what is happening now, italics are a flashback, hope that makes sense*

The feeling of power surges through me as I twist through the sky, in the middle of the storm.

I can't control this.

Why did I have to say yes?

Well, I guess I know why. When someone comes up to you and asks something like , "Ever wanted unequaled magic powers?," you don't just say no. I thought back to that day, the one that changed everything.

I was on my front steps, reading my favorite book, 'Harry Potter'. I looked up to see a tall man in a jet black suit watching me from across the street. He stared at me for a minute more, then strode over, almost stepping on Kathrine's garden gnome.

"Hi," I said.

"You'd better come with me,"

By this point, I was more than a little worried. "What about Kathrine?,"

Kathrine wasn't my real mom, of course, just a guardian.

"You won't need to worry about her. Trust me."

"How can I trust you? I don't even know you!,"

"I can give you powers, just like in your stories. I know you dream of them, Ms. Prior,"

"Sorry, don't believe you,"

Ok, this guy was officially insane. He didn't seem bothered by my opinion of him though. He was just grinning at me. And then, he wasn't. He wasn't anything. He was just gone. I blinked. Then I jumped up and peered into the bushes that surrounded Kathrine's porch, thinking he might have fallen in. I heard him laugh. I whirled around, but he wasn't there either. Slowly, serenely, I tilted my gaze skywards. The suited man was there, blue eyes smiling down at me, not unfriendly. He offered his hand to me, and I grabbed it, his skin feeling rough. As our skin touched, there was a spark, and he pulled me off the ground. I thought about screaming, but I settled for a laugh instead.

"This is amazing! Is it magic?,"

"Now do you believe me?," He said, not answering the question.

"Yes! You never told me your name!,"

"Blackwood, you can call me Mr. Blackwood."

"I'm Olivia Prior," I told him.

"I know."
