The dwarves rose quite early the next morning and dressed in light armor, then were supplied with weapons, and finally they marched down the dock towards a boat. Adrianna was still plagued by the vision she had had the previous night but said nothing. She also noticed that a certain brunette dwarf prince was so pale one would think he'd died if not for him limping. As they all begin to get in the boat Thorin stops Kili and says, "Not you. We must travel with speed, you will slow us down." Kili looks at his uncle thinking it must be a joke and replies earnestly, "What are you talking about? I'm coming with you." "No," was Thorin's only reply. Fili turns to hear his brother speak again, pleading almost, "I'm going to be there when that door is opened, when we first look upon the halls of our fathers, Thorin." Thorin places his hand on Kili's shoulder and smiles half-heartedly, "Kili, stay here. Rest. Join us when you are healed." Kili looks as if Thorin had just committed the deepest of betrayal. Oin then speaks up, "I'll stay with the lad. My duty lies with the wounded." He stands on the dock beside Kili as Fili pleads with his uncle, "I will carry him, if I must." Thorin turns to Fili with the serious look of a king, "One day you will be king, and you will understand. I cannot risk the fate of this quest for the sake of one dwarf, not even my own kin." Fili looks between his ailing brother and his uncle before climbing out of the boat to stand next to Kili. "Fili, don't be a fool. You belong with the company." Thorin exclaims. "I belong with my brother."

Adrianna stood silently behind Oin, Kili, and Fili, her decision made by her worry for her love. With a final look at the dwarves staying behind the boat pushes off and they quickly become smaller and smaller. Suddenly, Bofur appears next them panting, "Ah! So you missed the boat as well." A low loud moan escapes Kili's lips as he begins to collapse, Fili is quick to catch him. After finding that no one would help them Adrianna gets an idea, "We must go to Bard, he will help us." However once they arrive and Bard opens the door he quickly shouts, "No. I'm done with dwarves. Go away." He then begins to shut the door when Bofur cries out, "No! No one will help us; Kili's sick. He's very sick." "Please! Bard we have nowhere to turn. Please you must help him." Adrianna says looking Bard straight in the eye. "Quickly, place him on the bed." Bard says after a moment, moving to let the dwarves inside.

Once Kili is settled on the bed Sigrid and Adrianna begin heating water while Oin asks for herbs to help bring down his fever. "I have nightshade, feverfew…" Bard replies looking in the cabinet. Oin simply shakes his head, "They are no use to me. Do you have any Kingsfoil?" Bard thinks for just a second before replying, "No, it's a weed. We feed it to the pigs." Bofur then leaps up from his chair. "Pigs? Weed? Right!" He then points at Kili who is grunting in pain and barely conscious and says, "Don't move!" Then he turns and runs out the door.

Suddenly Bard's house begins to shake violently as the muffled sound of a roar reverberates over the town. Sigrid calls for her father as Bain points out that the sound came from the mountain. Adrianna moves to stand by Kili, as Fili steps over to Bard and his family, "You should leave us. Take your children; get out of here." "And go where? There is nowhere to run to." Bard replies. Then Tilda's small voice sounds from next to Adrianna, "Are we going to die, Da?" Adrianna turns to her kneeling down. "No sweetie, your daddy is going to save you and give you a much better life where you will have all you need and want." "How do you know?" Bard and the small child ask at the same time. Still facing Tilda Adrianna smiles, "I have a gift you see, I can see the future, I have seen you grow into a beautiful young woman Tilda. You will be happy and loved for many years to come." Tilda looks hopeful for a moment before frowning and answering, "The dragon is going to kill us." Bard, however, reaches up grabbing a long thick black arrow from it's hiding place. "Not if I kill it first."
