Your POV
The next morning, I made sure to wake up before my brother, mainly because I wanted to get out of the house as soon as possible. With Aria's help, I managed to put my luggage and some furniture into the van I was taking.
You might be asking, is Bradley going in the van with you. The answer is no. He decided to rent a limo and go to college that way. He claimed he would, "help me" with college because he's my older brother. Some older brother he is...
But it's fine! I'm my own person, I'm 18, I'm legally an adult. Plus, I know how to drive, so that's good. I quickly closed the trunk of the van and headed back inside. Should I grab breakfast before I leave? I mean, I could pick up food on the way...
I walked into the kitchen to see Bradley dressed and eating breakfast. "Oh, good morning little sis!" he said, smiling at me. "Morning Brad," I replied, walking over to the pantry. I'll just make myself some toast to hold me out and I'll pick up food on the way.
I grabbed a piece of bread from the pantry and headed over to the toaster, plopping the bread inside it. I leaned on the counter as I waited for it to toast. I drummed my fingers on the counter before asking, "Hey, when's the limo going to show up?"
"Around 10. Why are you asking? Do you want to ride with me?" Bradley asked, slowly getting excited. "No, I'm fine with driving myself," I replied, turning to him with a deadpan. He pouted before going back to eating his breakfast. "Fine, suit yourself, you're missing out on a lot though," he replied.
I turned around and rolled my eyes. Missing what? Your whining and gossip?
After a few moments, I decided to go back upstairs to my room to grab anything I missed. I headed out of the kitchen and up the stairs before turning and opening my bedroom door, or well, my used to be bedroom door.
The room, which was used to be filled with my things, was now mostly empty. The only things that were left were my bed, my closet, my clothing drawers, and my full-length mirror, plus some parts of posters that I was unable to get off the wall.
I sighed and walked over to my closet. I opened it and scanned it before my eyes widened. I quickly reached in and pulled out my skateboard, which I had put in my closet to store until tomorrow. Geez, if I had left my skateboard, I'm not sure what I would do!
I quickly shut my closet and turned around, catching my reflection in the mirror. I looked up and down at myself before nodding and walking out of the room. I quite liked the outfit I was wearing.
I was wearing a pair of high-waisted, navy blue shorts that stopped about mid-thigh along with a simple (F/C) t-shirt. I also sported a pair of black tennis shoes with two homemade anklets on my right ankle.
I hurried back down the stairs and into the kitchen, where I saw that my parents had joined my brother. "Morning mom, morning dad," I said as I walked to the toaster. "Good morning (Y/N)," my mom replied. I quickly grabbed the piece of toast out of the toaster - which thankfully it wasn't too hot - and made my way out of the kitchen.
"(Y/N), where are you going?" my dad asked, making me stop in my tracks. Well, I was about to leave and drive to get a donut before heading to college, but now I have to tell you what I'm going to do.
I turned around and replied, "I'm going to head on out. I should probably get there sooner rather than later," My mom made a surprised face and quickly got up. She walked over to me and gave me a tight hug.
"We'll miss you, okay?" she whispered, making me surprised. I hesitantly hugged back. My dad got up and hugged mom and me. I made a confused face, but hid it from my parents. "We will miss you," he said. I hugged them both.
After a few moments, they both let go. My mom held my shoulders and looked me in my eyes. "Stay safe and make us proud, okay?" she asked, making me internally roll my eyes. Your way of, "make us proud" is that you want me to become a scientist and have a family.
"I will," I replied, making her smile. I smiled back, albeit it was a bit forced, and she let go of my shoulders. "Bye (Y/N)," she said. "Bye mom, bye dad," I replied before turning around and walking out of the kitchen. "Remember to come back for the holidays!" I heard my dad call out. "I will!" I called back.
I walked out of the door and to the van. I quickly hopped into the driver's seat and put the key in the ignition before turning it, successfully starting it. I looked up to see Aria waving at me. "Bye (Y/N)! Call me when you can!" she called out. I waved back and rolled my window down. "I will! Bye Aria!" I called back, smiling. She smiled back and I got back into the van.
I pulled out of the driveway and into the road before stepping on the gas and heading on my way. Geez, after 18 years of being in the same house that has always pressured me to be a certain way, I should feel good for being free. But I still feel stressed...
I straightened up. No, I'm free, I don't have to follow my parents. I'm not going to have a Biology major and be a scientist. I'm going to have a Creative Writing major and I'm going to have a Photography degree!
I smiled to myself as I drove down the street. Now, where to get donuts?
----------------------------------
I munched on my (F/D) as I drove by a cornfield. So, according to GPS, after a few turns and several miles, I should be at State College.
I noticed that a truck was coming up in front of me, so I slowed down a little to make sure I wouldn't run into it. Suddenly, I saw a red and white van cut through the cornfield, making my eyes widen as I watched it drive through. I- what the heck? What type of driving skills are those?
Eventually, it drove out of sight, which made me fall back into my seat as I drove. What the heck happened?
I sighed.
I kinda hope those people aren't at college, they seem kinda crazy if they drive like that.
------------------------------------
A/N Ight, so, the reader saw the crazy driving Bobby did through the cornfield! I'm actually pretty happy with this chapter, though I had a little trouble conveying what her and Bradley's parents were like. I see them as these parents who have extremely high expectations of their kids and want them to have a future the parents select. Sure, they mean well, most of the time, but since the reader has always wanted to write and do photography, Bradley has always been the favored child. That's sort of what I was trying to convey. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you all next time!
