"I'm so done with this!"

I flipped my file to the other side not caring where it went. I'm not going to touch that assignment ever again. I've been trying to complete it for a week but it's still undone. Everytime it feels like it is about to get completed but it doesn't get over at all. Other assignments are all done with but I'm still stuck on this one.

"Dee! Mirae is calling you!"

"Coming." I went downstairs while wondering as to why she called on my mother's phone. I happily picked it up excited to talk to her.

"Hey! I'm glad you called." I began talking about the stupid assignment again. She patiently listened to me for a while, lending me a ear so that I could get over this frustration first.

"Are you done now?" She asked as if she wasn't comforting me a moment ago.

"Yeah. What's up with you?"

"I've been calling you since last evening. Where were you? You were supposed to come here for Sunghoon's birthday dinner."

My eyes widened in surprise and shock, "oh my god! I'm so sorry! I had tuned my phone off so that I could focus on the assignment. The dinner slipped my mind. I'm so sorry. I'm on my way!"

When I reached her place she led me to Sunghoon's room. He is her younger brother. I've known him for as long as I have known Mirae. It was his birthday yesterday and he invited me for a small family dinner.

And I forgot.

"Sunghoon?" I knocked on his door. There was no reply. I was about to knock again when he asked me to come in. Based on his tone he was mad at me. He isn't the type to get mad at people. I must've disappointed him.

"Hey," I greeted him in a small voice. He seemed to be playing a game in his computer. I didn't know what to do so I just sat on his bed waiting for him to turn around. But he didn't.

"Sunghoon-ah... I'm sorry. I know that apologising won't turn back the time or make up for forgetting your birthday. But I'm really sorry for what I did."

Honestly speaking forgetting a birthday shouldn't be a big deal right? So why is he acting like that? There is nothing to be mad about. Such a stubborn and whiny teenager!

He finally turned around with a serious or a bit like arrogant expression, "what about my birthday gift then? Did you get me something?"

I raised my eyebrows in disbelief. I just told him that I had forgotten about his birthday then what's the point of asking a gift?! I was fuming internally but let it go.

"What do you want? I'll buy it for you if it's in my budget." I smiled at him when I saw him thinking. He didn't seem as upset as before. Instead there was a playful smirk on his face as he looked at me.
