I spat out, reaching to drain the tub.

"What the actual fuck?"

Mara muttered, obviously never hearing of these terms.

"Touch-me-not is someone who gives but doesn't take, pillow princess is the opposite, gold star is-"

"and bottom you already knew."

I spoke, covering Paige's words. She shot me a withering glare, standing.

Mara was pulled up by Paige, grabbing the towel from off of the floor. She dried herself, leaving me enamored of her. She is truly perfect. Paige kissed her gently, causing me to stand. I kissed her on the opposite cheek, causing her to redden.

A knock sounded out on the door, causing us all to respond,

"Occupied."

We busted out laughing, covering our mouths. We walked out, walking quickly into the room.

They threw on clothes and brushed their hair. I waited patiently, sitting on a chair. Another knock sounded out on the bedroom door, this time sounding frantic.

"Yeah?"

I asked, swinging the door open. I was greeted by the tall Liam.

I forced his way in, stating in a harsh whisper,

"We need you two out in front. Fowl pack is attacking."

I nodded, grabbing a bag from under my bed. I pulled out a knife, slipping it into a sheath I hurriedly attached to myself. Paige did the same, prompting Mara to ask,

"What's going on?"

"We'll explain later. Stay in here, no matter what."

"But-"

"Promise me!"

"Okay, I promise."

I raced out of the door, leaving Mara looking back and forth between the three of our backs. I raced into the front yard, seeing five warriors. I laughed, brandishing my knife. I fell into position next to Alex and Isabella. I set my stance, watching them advance slowly.

"What are they doing?"

I whispered to Isabella, getting impatient.

"They are trying to lure us into attacking them first."

"Might as well."

"No. You are to stay here. Wait until I say you can rush."

I nodded, a frown spreading across my face.

They stared at us, readying. They sprinted at us, slamming into the wall of soldiers. I grunted, pushing my knife into the belly of the werewolf. He howled in pain, stepping away from me. I pulled my knife back, pulling someone off of Alex. I stabbed under his armpit, trying to hit his lung. I pulled it out, blooding splattering my face. The two crumpled, leaving only three more. Isabella called out as another one fell to the ground. We all turned to the survivors. They huddled next to each other, knives out, at the ready. We surrounded them quickly, leaving them back-to-back. They frantically swung their knives to keep us at a distance.

"Stop!"

A voice called out. Every head turned. Mara ran across the lawn, breaking through our circle. The taller of the two survivors dropped his weapon, embracing her. Confused chattering rippled through the yard.

"Elijah!"

"Mara..."

"What are you doing here? Why are you here?"

"Dad told us to bring you back..."

"What?"

Mara pushed herself away from Elijah, eyeing us out of the corner of her eye.

"I'm not going back."

She stated, crossing her arms.

"Mara... Please..."

Elijah reached out to touch her arm, causing her to swat his hand away.

"I'm not going back and that's final."

"Dad's not going to be happy..."

"Fuck that. I don't care if dad's not happy."

"Can I tell you something?"

Elijah asked her, leaning in.

Mara nodded. Elijah leaned in closer, speaking under his breath.

"What the hell, Elijah?!"

Mara yelled, pushing him away.

"I'm sorry! I was just jealous!"

Mara ran out of the circle. Elijah tried to follow her, but Paige blocked him, growling.

"Mara! Come back! I'm sorry!"

He yelled once more, trying to wave over Paige's head.

Mara continued to run into the house, her sweatshirt over her head. The door slamming echoed across the lawn. All heads turned back to Elijah and his buddy. Elijah stood still, suddenly losing his fire. Isabella spoke up, surprising us all.

"Let him go."

Confused chattering rippled through the circle yet again.

"Silence! I said, let him go."

We backed up, letting him walk away. He shifted, running into the forest. Isabella turned to the group.

"Alright, we'll need to up our patrol for the next week or so. We don't know if he'll try something again."

We all nodded silently. Paige raised her hand.

"Yes, Paige, you can go see Mara. You too, Lauren."

We both ran across the yard, stepping over the bodies. I shuddered, realizing how awful that is. We ran through the house, causing our parents to worriedly ask us questions. We ignored them, bursting into the room. I pulled my eyes up, seeing chaos around our room. Sheets were thrown off the bed, everything from our counters were pushed onto the floor, and even a mattress came up from off of the bed frame.

"What... the hell?"

I muttered, taking a couple of steps forward. I looked in the closet, seeing our mate curled up in a ball. I opened the door fully, walking in. I laid down next to her, putting my hand on her side. She sobbed once, sniffling.

"What happened, baby?"

I asked her, moving closer to her. Paige sat on the other side of her, kissing Mara's hand.

"Elijah told him."

"Told who, baby?"
