CHAPTER ONE: The New Greenie

I woke up in a bed. The room i was in didnt look familiar at all! Suddenly two boys came in the room.

"Oh hey Greenie. Looks like your awake now. Hey Clint go get Alby." One said to the other. The one who im guessing is named Clint left the room to get someone named Alby i think.

"Where am i?" I asked "who are you? Let me go please!"

"Hey calm down greenie. Im Jeff." He said as the boy named clint and another boy with dark skin  came in. The dark skinned boy walked towards me.

"Get away!" I yelled.

"Whoa Greenie. Calm down, im Alby. Your gonna be ok." He said.

I jumped off of the bed. "Where am i?!" I asked frantically. "Who am i?!?"

"Your in the glade." Alby said. "Your name will come eventually."

I didn't like this. I was trapped in a room full of random boys in a place ive never even been in and I didn't even know my name, so i ran. I ran out of the room. I heard the boys yelling for me to come back. As i ran i saw there was big walls surrounding where i was. I saw an opening so i made for it. I was almost there when someone grabbed me.

"LET ME GO!" I yelled as i kicked and squirmed.

"I cant let you go in there." The boy that had a hold of me said. He looked familiar. "You'll get bloody killed"

"Please!" I pleaded.

"I c—" he started to say when the opening in the big wall started to close. I just watched as the big opening closed itself. As soon as it closed i felt the boys grip loosen.
"You see. If i let you go in there you would've been trapped and then you would've died" the boy said. He had a accent unlike the other boys and he had sandy blond hair and brown eyes.

The boy named Alby walked over and patted the boy who still had a hold of my wrist, on the shoulder. "Nice save newt." He said.  'So the boy who basically tackled me, names newt.' I thought.

"What do we do with her?" Newt asked Alby.

"Bring her to the homestead. We can explain everything there." Alby said.

"Come on, Greenie." Newt said as he pulled my arm and led me to the biggest building in this place. When we walked in newt let go of my arm and closed the door behind me. Probably so I couldn't run out again.

"Ok Greenie. You're gonna be ok, we won't hurt you. You're in the glade. Every month a new person comes up in the box and this month that person is you." Alby explained "the place you woke up in was the Med-jack room. You wasn't awake when you first came up in the box so we took you there to make sure nothing was wrong with you."

"Why cant I remember anything?" I asked

"Everyone is like that when they first came up. But dont do anything you might regret later, trust me." Newt said. "If you want to cry, cry. If you want to hit something, hit something...well expect another glader"

"I dont know what i want to do. I-I just want to sleep." I said.

"Ok well you can. Newt, can she take a nap in your bed until we can get her, her own place set up away from all the boys so she doesn't get molested?" Alby asked.

"Yeah. Come on green-bean." Newt said as he grabbed my wrist again and led me up some stairs.
We walked down a hall until we came to a door. He opened it to reveal a room with a bed and some clothes on the floor.

"Umm dont mind the mess." He said. "You can just rest in the bed and if you need anything just yell. Ill be around so umm yeah. Sleep tight" he said as he walked out of the room and closed the door.

I sat on the foot of the bed and put my face in my hands. 'What is happening?' I thought.
I figured id better get some sleep so i just laid down. Not even bothering to get under the covers. I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I woke up it seemed not even 30 minutes after i fell asleep but I guess i was out for a while because it looked dark outside. I looked around the dark room and realized that a blanket had gotten on top if me somehow. I spotted something huddled on the floor and when I looked closer I realized it was newt. I felt bad, turns out he made a makeshift bed on the floor so he wouldn't disturb my slumber. I didn't know what to do. I had just slept for a while and I wasn't tired anymore so I didn't want to go back to sleep so i just laid there staring at the ceiling. 'Whats my name? Why was i here? Whats gonna happen? I haven't seen any other girls. Am i the only one? Did newt put the blanket over me? How do i get out of here? Do i just lie here until morning?' All these thoughts ran through my head but the one I wanted to know the most was, why i was here.
After about 30 minutes of thinking I figured i may as well try to go back to sleep so i closed my eyes. Suddenly i saw i was in a room with someone, A boy with dark hair. We was sitting on a couch. He turned to me.

"Emerson Be careful." He said. "Wicked is getting stronger every day. We may have been here since we were kids but they won't hesitate to hurt us if it means they find a cure. Teresa told me that they are sending more and more kids to the maze."

"Whats going to happen to them?" I asked

"I don't know" he replied
I shot up in the bed. I was breathing really hard and i was really sweaty. Newt was awake and just staring at me.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I um i don't know. I think i know my name though, Emerson ." I replied.

"I think you just had a memory. Its ok go back to sleep." He said.

I nodded and laid back down. I glanced over at newt. He was still staring at me but he seemed to be In thought because his eyes looked unfocused. "Are you going to lay back down?" I asked

He nodded and laid back down on his makeshift bed.

I closed my eyes and drifted back into a dreamless sleep.
