chapter I

Linova.

Beep beep beep

Fuck!! I groan as a slam my hand on the alarm clock. Who said mornings were easy, especially on the first day of school . Thank God it's my last year this year and I'll be done with the torture of waking up early in the morning. Who on their right mind sets their alarm clock to 5:30am? Ugh why did I have to live so far from school? Why do I have to walk to school? All these questions keep going through my mind as get ready for the day. After I've finished getting ready putting my uniform on I comb my afro, put some small studs on, lip balm then finito- done . I go downstairs to the kitchen and make some cereal as I'm getting the milk from the fridge I can hear the girls bickering upstairs about who gets to comb their hair first .  You see I have two twin younger versions of me , I mean that's what everybody I know says about the resemblance of me and my siblings and I don't disagree but I'm the prettier one (whispers).

"Morning sweety." My mom says getting in the kitchen to start breakfast.

"Morning mom, dad left already?" I ask dad always leaves before me for work but always wakes me up since today he didn't I guess he either forgot or is late. I'm guessing on the former though.

"Yeah baby he left in quiet a hurry, overslept" mom says putting cereal on the two bowls as she was munching on a piece of toast.

"Ohhh okay, well I'll have to love and leave ya. My first day in senior grade awaits. Adios senorita." I say getting my bag from the opposite chair.

"Adios baby!!" mom yells.

And I start my walk to school and it's like a 30 minute walk. When I get to the gate I meet up with the gang which consists of Meli, Anali and Jobe.

"Hey bitch!!" Screams Jobe as he tackles me in hug.

" Bitch I can't breath!" I say tryna losen his grip on me.

"Stop being dramatic and let him give you some love. Lord knows you need it.?" Anali says as the rest Snickers.

"Ha ha ha very funny " I say sarcastically while we walk to our new classes to put our bags then head to assembly.

" I can't wait for this year to be over!" Groans Meli.

"This is literally the first day you know that right?" Anali says as we get pulled by the crowded students on assembly.

"It doesn't matter if it's the first day or not I wish for it to be the last !" Meli pouts.

"But why? I mean-" I get interrupted by Josh elbowing me to shut up since the principal has started talking on the podium.

After assembly we go to our designated classes." We'll talk more on lunch break." I say as we part to our classes.

"We desksmates again. How honoured you are servant " Jobe says dramatically putting a hand on his heart.

"Ugh I have to put up with your nonstop talking and getting me to trouble again this year." I say already picturing the many times we've been thrown out of class because we were disturbing the classroom.
"Hey! You also responsible." He says as we sit on the back of class on the second row.
"I'm not the one who always initiates it though." I say turning to look at him.

"Whatever Nova." He says ending the topic

"So ... I saw Tom with Ayse while we were waiting for you on the gate." He says turning to look at me seriously.

Tom was my boyfriend of 2 years we had been dating since 10th grade and broke up on the school holidays because he saw me kissing Pheobe at a party we had been at. I'm not surprised he's moved on so quickly I mean we were okay but it was never love between me and him.

"Yeah I heard they were a thing now. But who gives a fuck! He's a piece of shit and she a bimbo so perfect match if you ask me." I say nonchalantly.

"And Pheobe ?" He asks looking intently at me.

"What about her?" I ask feigning innocence.

"Cut the bullshit Nova ... what happened? Why did y'all kiss at the party?" He asks annoyed I was pretending to not know what he was talking about.

" I don't know okay! It just happened " I say looking over at Pheobe desk as she and her friend chatted freely.

"Do you regret it?" He asks softly.

"No. I don't. And I don't even fucking know what that means." I say confusion clouding my mind.

"Damn! Have you guys talked after the whole thing?" He asks

"No. I mean she tried calling but I didn't know what to say so you could say I've been avoiding her." I say just as the teacher gets in class and our conversation ends.

Lunch break we were chilling at our spot under a tree behind the school sitting on the grass eating our lunch which consists of fries, sandwiches and all kind , sodas and chips. We are joined by Jobe's boyfriend Mike and Lisa meli's girlfriend. I know I'm sorrounded by gays so I shouldn't be confused about me and Pheobe but the thing is i liked the kiss and Pheobe is a good girl but I'm not sure if I could take a relationship with her seriously you know.

" So...? " Anali awkwardly clears her throat looking at me.

"What?" I say raising my eyebrow at her.

"Don't what her we want the know what's up with you and that shorty in your class?" Mike says

" Nothing is going on gosh!!" I say getting frustrated at people meddling in my business they know how much I hate being confronted.

"Chill girl, we just wanted to know what things were for you two... just tryna help?" Meli says hands up surrender.

"You guys think I'm stupid don't ya?" I ask sighing

"No boo boo we dont think you're stupid nobody knows better then us what you're going through we've been there remember." Jobe says hugging me.

" I just don't wanna do something to cause anybody pain. I don't know whether I'm experimenting or if I really did like it? If I did like it is it a phase or real ? You know she's proudly gay. and me? I'm not sure." I say breathing heavily .

"Well ...one way to find out?" Anali says.

"How?" I ask dreading the answer.

"Ask her. Talk to her " Jobe says .

Fuck. I don't know if she even wants to talk to me after blowing her off and not answering her calls like I've done. Fuck.
