Despair on Display

As she knew working alone was what she did best, Rei waited for the rest of the people to leave the cafe before deciding to check out the walls. Unfortunately for her, it seemed as if Kanon decided to stay behind.

Rei did her best to ignore the puppeteer as she started off with one wall. She placed her right ear against the wall and started knocking on different parts of the wall. It all sounded the same, so she moved to a different part of the wall. As she did so, she noticed Kanon starting to do the same on the wall opposite to her.

The two of them continued testing out different parts of the walls until, eventually, they met up in the middle.

"It is quite unfortunate," The Puppeteer sighed, cupping her face with her hand.
"I found nothing of note- no hollow sounding walls. What about you, sweetie?"

Rei shook her head.
"Nothing for me either- but thank you for helping me out. I appreciate it."

Kanon covered her mouth, thought it was clear that she was smiling.
"Oh, why no problem, dearie! Seeing as everyone else is enthusiastic about escape, it motivated me to want to help out even more! This hollow wall idea did seem far fetched at first, but I do believe that someone will find something!" Kanon declared, eyes beaming behind her veil and glasses.

Rei nodded absentmindedly and turned her head to the exit. "Yes... in that case, would you like to investigate another room...?"

Kanon turned her attention to the exit as well. "Yes, we should...! It would not hurt to lend others a hand, correct? Where shall we go?"

"How about the souvenir shop and the library?" Rei suggested. "It's right next to this room."

"Ah, splendid choice! I shall lead the way then! Follow me now, dearest!"

And with that, Kanon left the cafe.

Rei followed Kanon, but not before stopping to take one last look at the cafe before leaving.

Upon arriving at the souvenir shop, they noticed the Mieko twins inspecting the walls while, just like before, Mono-Z rocked violently from side to side.

"Oh my! Greetings, you two! Are you in need of any assistance...?" Kanon asked, which gained the attention of the taller one of the twins, making him turn around.

"Greetings to you two as well. We are just about done with this room, so no, we do not."
Mito spoke before gently knocking on one of the walls. He frowned when the sound that he heard was not hollow. Kanon frowned as well, turning her attention to the shelves. Mito joined her, and the two started absentmindedly looking at the shelves. Mita eyed them out of the corner of her eye.

Mita seemed as if she had something she wanted to say, but she held her tongue. She turned her attention back at the walls.

"Pfft, I don't know what you all are expecting. There aren't any fancy secret walls here!" Mono-Z spoke up, momentarily stopping their rocking.
