Draven plopped down in one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs across from a brunette with bright blue eyes. She looked up from her phone and smiled, colored lights flashing across her face from a video on one of her many social media accounts.
"You actually came! I'm surprised. I didn't think you'd really be up around 8 am." The girl chuckled, her eyes twinkling with mischief. Draven leaned back in the chair, crossing his arms and smiling faintly.
"I do happen to have a life, Ellie. Y'know... unlike a certain someone." Ellie gasped and gave him a playfully withering glare as she shoved her phone into her pocket. Draven huffed a small laugh and propped his head on a fist. He closed his eyes, listening to the tap of a glass being set on the table and the rustling of dry leaves dancing across the sidewalk. He sighed happily. This is nice...
Draven heard a different kind of rustling and opened his eyes just as something small, white, and hard hit his cheek. He glanced down as it fell into his lap. A crumpled up straw wrapper. Draven plucked it up off his jeans and looked at Ellie, who was smiling around the very straw the wrapper came from. He chuckled and threw it back at her, a tanned hand intercepting it midair. Ellie gasped before squealing in pure delight. Draven looked up at a girl with vibrant purple and teal dyed hair with pale blue eyes. June. Ellie grabbed June's arm and pulled her down into the seat next to her, starting to tell her about some guy in her class who had asked her out. Draven smiled contentedly, closing his eyes again. He listened to the quiet murmur of the girls chatter as he gradually felt sleepier.
Draven couldn't have been asleep for more than five minutes before he felt a hand on his shoulder, shaking his awake. He was face to face with Ellie, mischievous laughter glinting in her eyes. Draven had a vague feeling that she had done something to him, but he couldn't put his finger on it. He looked to June, but she had disappeared. She probably had an art meeting to get to... He looked back at Ellie and squinted at her warily.
"What did you do?"
"What do you mean?"
"I know you did something. What is it?"
"I didn't do anything. Now get up. Weren't you supposed to meet Silas at 12?"
Draven looked at the time on his phone. 11:15. Shit... He jumped up, giving Ellie a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek before darting off down the street.
