Chapter 2: "Breaking the News"

I check my phone to see the picture of the ultrasound Ze sent me. Hopefully Jess won't be too mad at me when I tell her about his "condition". Seriously, how did it happen? Is our life like one big fanfiction right now? (Breaking the fourth wall 'cause why not?) And how will we explain it to the kid in the future that they literally have two dads?

Okay, Chilled, you need to chill. Everything will be a-okay. I'll just explain everything to her, and we can figure some stuff out in the future.

I walk into the kitchen where Jess is finishing up with dinner. Great, she's holding a knife. This isn't going to end well for me, is it? Trying to keep my cool, I sneak up behind her when she's not holding the knife dangerously close to anything and cover her eyes with my hands.

"Hey there, pretty lady," I whisper playfully.

"Anthony, do you have any idea what I'm holding right now?" she chuckles. Okay, at least she's in a good mood.

"Yeah, but I trust you." I hope she still trusts me after what I'm about to say.

"That's good to know. Dinner will be ready in five minutes."

"Sounds great." I'll tell her over dinner, and make sure she's not chewing anything when I do. I start setting up the table with clammy hands in fear for my life. Maybe I'm overreacting right now, but I'm anxious. I take my time with the table before she begins fixing our plates.

Dinner went by well and now we're just having a nice chat about our days. It's now or never, I guess.

"Hey, um, Jess. I have something I need to tell you. It's something important, and I hope you'll forgive me." I bit my lip and waited for her to say something, anything. 

"What is it, hun?"

"So..." I rub my hands together. "Ze went to the doctor today, and he found out that he's..." I stopped to take a deep breath. This is so ridiculous sounding to say, but I have to say it. "Jess, Ze's pregnant... and I'm the father."

(Okay, I'm not gonna lie. I started laughing after I wrote that line.) 

She just laughed and punched me on the shoulder. "Don't be ridiculous, Anthony. Steven's a guy."

"Yeah, and that's the thing. We have no idea how it happened." I pulled out my phone to show her the picture. Her face went ashen for a second, then a confused look came across it.

"Wait, so you're not joking?"

I shook my head no. "We were at Pax, and alcohol was involved, and... please, I'm so sorry. It was never supposed to happen." I was excited before this about actually having the baby, but now I was afraid of her getting mad at me and kicking me out, to the least of my worries.

She looked at my phone for a couple more minutes, then laughed again. "Okay, so what do we do now?"

I was shocked. "So, are you mad?"

She laughed again. "No, not really. It's still ridiculous to think about, but I'm okay. We'll figure out something with Steven and it'll all be okay. I guess it's real life RoyalChaos for the win." I laughed at my girlfriend using our ship name, then breathed a sigh of relief. She's not mad, and that's good.

I cupped her face with my hands and kissed her on the forehead. "Thank you thank you thank you," I stressed, then helped her clean up the kitchen. We sat down and talked about some plans that I can't wait to tell Ze. How is everyone so calm and understanding in this situation? First his parents, now my girlfriend, and I have yet to tell mine. Really, is no one questioning the fact that one guy is pregnant for another?

But you know what, maybe that's a good thing... so far. I think the hardest people to explain this to will be Smarty and GaLm, and we're going to do that soon.

"How was she okay with it?" I asked Anthony with a laugh. It's been a day since I found out about the pregnancy, and it's also my birthday today, and we're just chatting before we record some Cards Against Humanity with Smarty and GaLm. "Wasn't it awkward at all?"

"Well, she was really confused at first. Then she found it amusing, and now she's okay. Also, we've made some plans for the two of you."

"Tell me."

"Okay, what we've decided is that when you finish up with school in a couple weeks, we want you to move out here with us to Connecticut. If you don't want to live in the same apartment with us, we can help you get one."

My face lit up with a smile. "Really? That's awesome!"

"See? Anthony always delivers."

"I know I will in December." I still haven't gotten over the fact that this is happening. "I've made a decision of my own too. I've decided to tell the fans."

"Great! We can make our own seperate vlogs. It'll be a little hard to explain, but I think they'll understand. And the fanfiction. So much fanfiction."

In the middle of our conversation, GaLm joined in, followed by Smarty a few minutes later. We played a few horribly hilarious rounds before stopping the recording. I bit my lip and decided that it was now or never to tell them.

"Hey, guys," I spoke up before everyone disconnected. "Chilled and I have something we need to tell you."

"What's up, Ze?" GaLm asked.

I looked at Anthony and he returned it. "So, do you want to tell them, or do you want me to do it?" I asked him.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever you're comfortable with."

"Okay, what's going on here?" Smarty interrupted. "Are you two hiding something from us?"

"Sorta, but not for much longer." I sighed. "The night we were at my hotel room at Pax and we were drinking got a little crazier than what I thought it did."

"What are you implying?"

Chilled laughed and facepalmed on camera. "Oh for crying out loud, Ze's having my love child!"

Smarty had a look of horror and GaLm's mouth gaped open. "Wait, what? You can't be serious. Steven, please tell us you're joking."

I held the ultrasound up to my camera. "Do you think I'm joking?"

They both went pale in the face. "That... that's a real picture, isn't it?"

I nodded. "I went to the doctor yesterday. It's real."

"That means..." Smarty got up from his desk and fell headfirst into his pillow for a minute before coming back. Wow, a pillow facepalm? Is the news that bad? "GaLm, is that why we left the room?"

GaLm had the same terrified look. "I have no idea. But I knew we shouldn't have left you two alone. I thought we raised you to be more responsible than that, Steven!"

"Steven, we're not mad. Just disappointed."

"I know, I know. But everything's gonna be okay. I plan to move out to Connecticut soon and live with them."

"With them? So, you told Jess?"

"Yep," Anthony answered. "I was pretty shocked too when she was okay with it."

"She was okay with it?? Chilled, if she's okay with you having a baby with your guy best friend, you should marry her."

"Someday, I swear," Chilled chuckled.

Smarty and GaLm sighed at the same time. "Oh well, I guess we're going to have a new member of the Derp Crew soon." Yeah, that's a good way to put it.

It looks like it's time to make that vlog.

(A/N: This story may be 10 chapters, probably less. I haven't decided how compressed the plot line will be, so I'll just wing it as I go along. I'll also try to update every other day or so. Other than that, the first chapter got almost 60 reads after being posted for one day. That's awesome, thank you all so much!)
