Chapter-64 The painful truth!

"Rey what happened? Din se dekh rahi hu, you aren't happy whenever this topic comes, sab theek hai na? You want a baby right?"

He was silent, Taani was looking at him worriedly, her hands were shaking but he kept a straight face, he knew he would have to be strong if he wants to tell her the truth, so he took her hands in his still looking serious and said,

"Taani, remember in the morning I told you I wanna tell you something, to ab please sab dhyaan se sunna okay?"

She nodded getting anxious, nervous and the same time scared of what he wants to say that he was behaving so seriously, he looked at her straight in the eyes saying,

"Remember Taani, I am there with you always, and I don't care if I have anything else in this world or not, I just want you to be with me always. And for that I would do everything, even if you like it or not."

She gulped hearing him, she tried taking her shaky hands back saying,

"Rey what is it? Aap mujhe dara rahe hain, please saaf saaf boliye."

He nodded and took a deep breath choosing his words very carefully,

"Taani jab tum coma se bahar aayi thi, doctors ne tumhare body organs scan kiye the, just to see if they are okay or there is any injury. But tumhare uterus mein serious injury thi which they cured due to operation. Par Taani operation ke baad your uterus has become weak to carry a child........."

Rey stopped mid-way to gauge her expressions and he was right, she was breathing deeply and was anxious, her hands started sweating and she asked in a shivering voice,

"Are you...are you saying that I.... I can't ever become a mother?"

He looked at anything but her, fearing if this is what her reaction is then what will be her state when she learns of everything, he clasped her hands in his tightly,

"Nahi, aisa nahi hai ki you can't be pregnant. In fact you won't have a problem in conceiving but tumhare andar uss baby ko 9 months carry karne ki strength nahi hai. And if you....if you even carry out with 9 months of your pregnancy, to delivery ke time.....there are chance of surv...survival of only one person or in fact no chances. You both might d...di..."

He was finding it really hard to complete his sentence, she smiled sadly,

"Die?"

He immediately shook his head and moved closer to her,

"Hann but aisa kuch nahi hoga. We can live right? We can live without a child, we don't need anyone besides each other, haina?"

She shook her head in denial, her body shaking and she finally burst into tears, crying hard before throwing herself in his arms, his heart broke seeing her condition and he too hugged her tightly clutching her in his embrace and his dam broke too. He too cried feeling the pain when he heard her,

"Why Rey? Why us? Humne aisa kya kiya ha, ki god hume aise punish kar rahe hai? Why can't we have a baby? It's unfair, it's so unfair."

He cried hard, like a baby, and hummed before cupping her cheeks,

"Haan but we will be fine, we won't let this affect our lives, our happiness. Hum dono hain ek dusre ke sath, we'll be okay, we'll be happy right?"

He asked her hopefully, she looked ta him before looking down guiltily,

"I am sorry Rey, I am sorry! I know how much you wanted our baby, it was your dream! I am sorry I wouldn't be able to fulfil it."

His heart broke hearing her words, he knew this would happen, she would feel guilty, but he won't let her blame herself for anything that isn't her fault, so he made her look into his eyes,

"You don't have to be sorry for anything, tumhari koi galti nahi hai jaan. There is no fault of anyone, and this doesn't change anything. Not even my love for you, you are still the most perfect woman for me. I love you okay! And you love me, that's all that matters okay?"

They hugged each other and Rey sta taking the support of the bed post while they cried forgetting the world. Taani controlled herself and asked him sadly,

"Rey, is there any other way? Anything that can give us our baby?"

He shook his head in denial, when she asked,

"What about IVF or something else?"

Rey kissed her head,

"Taani, as I said you won't have a problem in conceiving, even with IVF you would still have to carry the baby, that is dangerous for you and I am not taking any chances with your health."

She hesitated rubbing her fingers on his chest,

"And surrogacy?"

But she knew what would be his answer, he looked at her painfully,

"You really want someone else to carry our child?"

Tears fell from her eyes and she hugged him tightly shaking her head in denial,

"No! I don't want that."

He kissed her head time to time while they kept sitting there in each other's arms crying over their fate. It felt their small happy world was crashing and they could do nothing to save it. Nothing at all.

Rey laid down on the bed with her in his arms, her slight sobs could be heard till long, his shirt was totally wet with her tears. He was crying too but was still better than her. He knew she would break, just like he did when he heard all this. After all a baby is the beautiful blessing from god to a couple, the evidence of their love. That they would create together but now it seemed that they would be neglected from this blessing their whole life.

Hecouldn't understand where life was taking them, he knew these were hard timesbut he knew this too that till the time Taani is with him, he can handleanything and everything. Soon their sobs died down with night falling on themand their tired bodies give in to sleep.
