Regulus was in awe. The castle was so bright, and beautiful. It took his breath away, and if the castle itself wasn't enough to make him stop breathing the other first year in the boat was rocking it enough to cause a heart attack,

She'd moved to the front quickly, her eyes wide as she looked at the castle,

"Could you stay still." He requested, uneasy in the small boat as it wavered above the icy black depths of the lake,

"Sorry, just look at it," breathed the girl, "Have you ever seen anything so incredible?" Her eyes remained glued to the castle as she spoke to him,

"No. I haven't." Replied Regulus, as she sat back beside him, not lifting her eyes from the castle for a second,

"You know I'm afraid to blink. Don't want to miss any of this." Said the girl, and Regulus looked at the castle, tracing its outline with his eyes, doing his best to memorize every bit of it,

Something moved beneathe them, causing the boat to rock, but the girl didn't flinch, he was almost tempted to nudge her to see if anything could break her concentration on the school,

"I'm Annabelle, by the way," she said, "Or em, the older boy said you use last names here. I'm Annabelle Aelin, I'm just a bit nervous,"

"Me too." He said quietly, staring at the school, "I'm Regulus Black," he replied,

"You've got such a cool name," said Annabelle, and Regulus blinked, it was rather common for wizards to have names like this, "Is it your first time on a boat?" She was teasing him.

"Yes," he said, as she touched the water of the murky black lake before pulling her hand away,

"Blimey that's cold," said Annabelle,

"What were you expecting?" Asked Regulus, formal as always, trying to maintain the perfect posture his parents had taught him as she shook the boat a little as she moved to get better views of the castle,

"I thought magic school and all might mean this could be like the Caribbean," said Annabelle, and Regulus hummed one acknowledgement, terribly nervous around the new person,

She grew tired of his silence and rocked the boat again,

"For the love of Merlin," he exclaimed now gripping her arm, and she laughed, he flushed pink and let go hastily, "Don't do that,"

"But you're smiling now aren't you?" Asked Annabelle, and Regulus schooled his features, the flush continuing to rise to his cheeks,

"I thought you were looking at the school," he said accusatorially,

"I was. But you just told me, just now," said Annabelle, Her hand reaching to touch the water again,

"Do you really think it will have changed temperature in the last five seconds?" Asked Regulus, arching an eyebrow,
