Lately, I have been reading a lot of author's who love to write notes at the end of each chapter but they never bold/italic/ break it apart from the story in way.
They literally just finish the chapter and the next sentence is part of the author's note. I always read it and I'm like..wait. That makes no sense. Then i re-read the two sentences and realize it is actually apart of an author's note.
Personally, I use author's notes and I actually like reading other peoples. But when I do, I like to break mine away from the main story like :

Now, of course I'm not saying you HAVE to do it like that but it's a nice heads up. Oh and if your author's note is longer than your story, seriously you should write more story and less notes, dollface ;)
