I woke up with a jolt, as my mother yelled my name. "TRAVIS! TRAVIS! WAKE UP YOU SILLY LITTLE GIRL!"
I got up reluctantly, rolling my eyes. I sluggishly pulled on my clothes, brushing my teeth and hair. I looked at my reflection. Pale skin, chocolate brown orbs and curly brown hair cascaded down my collarbone. My features are unremarkable, with my button nose and long eyelashes and plump pink lips.
I am nowhere near as pretty as the other girls at school. I'm such a loner. I wish I had friends other than my 2 best friends, one of which will betray me later but we don't talk about that yet. I groaned at the thought of another unbearable day at school. Little did I know, my whole life was about to change.
I walked down the stairs. I could hear my brother and mom arguing, over the sound of toast popping out, it was going to the shops to buy some milk. Little did I know it would never come back, just like my epic stoner dad.
"You don't know what it's like to be a highschool teenager mom!"
"I've been through a lot raising you"
I heard my mom's heels clacking as she slammed the front door shut. My mom works at the local salon as a hairdresser, and she's always trying to get me to style my hair.
But little did I know it was me who would style HER hair!
I gave my brother a pointed look. "Bruh kinda cringe, why do you keep fighting with mom, Jared? you're becoming just like dad." My brother and I fight everyday, but at the end of the day, I know we're there for eachother.
Jared sighed. "You know why, Travis. She's an alcoholic and she's always sleeping around with her clients. What about us, Travis? She never takes care of us. Or spends any time with us. It's not fair, why couldn't we live with our amazing grandparents that are convicted child murderers? They should have won the custody battle." I rolled my eyes and walked away. Jared could be a handful sometimes. Of course I like my grandparents too, but we can't just leave mom. That's mean, even though she burned me a hair straightener once when I was 7 years old. She was drunk, she didn't mean it.
I shake away my thoughts and head to the bus stop.
I walked into the school, the halls bustling with sounds of the football jocks chanting the school anthem, "God save our gracious principle". Then Kæyehcéeyy walked in. She flipped her ridiculously long blonde hair, and looked flirtatiously at the boys with her blue eyes. God. She was such a barbie.
And everyone was drinking it up.
Ugh, I was over her stuck up attitude. I just headed over to my locker where my two besties were waiting for me.
