My paws thudded against the muddy floor of the forest. I listened carefully, but could only hear the hard drops of the rain. It was making their scent weaker.
I sniffed the ground more, finding the scent and following it. I ran through the dark canvas, weaving through trees as I searched for the trespassers. Their scent wasn't strong, but it was there. I had to hurry before the rain washed it away completely.
'Their scents almost gone' A voice rang in my head.
'I can still smell it, give me a minute.' I told them frustrated.
I tried to focus on the sounds around me, but the other wolves searching were too loud. Their paws crunched twigs and their noses breathed heavily as they tried to catch up to me.
I caught a whiff of a scent and started running to follow it while I could. I kept running until the scent disappeared once again.
'This is a waste of our time.' Another wolf huffed through our mind link.
'Then leave.' I said almost immediately, letting my anger seep into my tone. He turned around and started to leave.
'West side. I found one.' A hurried voice rang through my head. I looked at the rest of my group and watched them stare at each other. I soon took off into a sprint.
My direction changed completely to the left as I picked up speed. I knew I was loosing everyone else, considering I was the only sprinter in my group. I continued to run as fast as I could to the west side of the forest until I could hear the growls of nearby wolves.
I slowly crept up to a nearby bush and watched the scene in front of me. One of the groups from my pack were there. They were circling a she-wolf, trying to scare her into surrendering.
She was one of the biggest wolves I've ever seen. I couldn't pick up a scent, meaning she was of high power and could control it.
The wolf was beautiful, with bright red fur and hazel eyes. She didn't flinch even a little when the wolves growled towards her. She stood prideful, only growling when one of the wolves from my pack snapped at her. She was swift to move out of their way every time.
I was about to step out from behind the bush, when one of the warriors launched towards her. It was too fast to really understand what happened, but something very fast zoomed past us taking him with it. Everyone looked around, searching for where they went, for who took him. I crouched down into the shadows, trying to hide myself.
The she-wolf took this time to launch towards another one of the warriors and tackle him to the ground. Another wolf came out from behind a tree and took out the last wolf. He tore into his neck and was quick to end the warriors life.
I started to slowly back away, knowing I needed to get more help. I turned around slowly, but came face to face with yet again another wolf. Large and scary was the only way I could describe him.  He was light brown with icy grey eyes. He snarled at me threateningly and I shot in the opposite way, hoping to get away.
I ran for a few minutes trying to find someone nearby. I could hear the wolf catching up to me quickly and tried to speed up. My wolf was on a craze as we got chased down. I could feel my heart beating in my rib cage as I dodged trees and branches.
I was about to turn a corner before I felt something crash against my side. I flung into a tree and quickly got up in alert. The wolf growled at me. I looked down at my leg, it was bleeding. He noticed me look down and started to advance me. His jog soon turned into a run towards me. He lunged at me, and I squeezed my eyes shut. I awaited his arrival on top of me, but it never came. I opened my eyes and searched around for him.
My mind tried to adjust to the events that occurred while I stared at nothing. He was gone.
I slowly crept around trees hoping to get to safety. As I went forward I heard the snarls of wolves. I soon found myself behind a tree, looking around the side to see what was happening.
All I saw was the back of the wolf that attacked me. As he moved out of the way I was able to sight another wild on scene. He was a black that made your skin crawl. I could notice his eyes from a mile away. A green that made ur spine tingle. I couldn't smell him, making my wolf on edge.
He growled threateningly towards the light brown wolf, then it was silent. I could tell they were having a conversation through mind link by the way their faces blanked out. The brown wolf huffed slightly before slowly backing away and running off.
At this point I was just ready to go home and crawl into bed. I felt my eyes droop as I hid back behind the tree more. When I looked back out, the other wolf was gone and I sighed in relief. I felt my wolf form shift back to human. I turned around to head back only to stop cold in my tracks.
I was faced with the black wolf. I didn't notice how big he was until he was so close to me. His eyes shimmered as they ran over my body and I was quick to cover.
I gulped, knowing that it was just me and this wolf. Alone. I took a few steps back and noticed his head tilt slightly, his ears perked a bit. I couldn't go back any further as I was trapped behind the tree. I watched as his eyes softened, then slowly closed. I then started to get a whiff of something amazing. My wolf was on a craze as the husky scent of pines and mint ran through my nose. I watched his gorgeous eyes open yet again.
When our eyes met, I knew why he was protecting me. Why I felt safe in his while being around him.
When he looked at me with those bright green eyes, I saw the key to my fate. My mate.
My body froze. I could feel my heart start to beat faster. It felt like it was going to burst out of my chest.
The wolf in front of me assessed my reaction. His head tilted to the side, waiting for something to happen. He took a step forward, but before any further movements could happen, a powerful howl sounded through the woods. My alpha was calling us all back to the pack house.
I tried to resist the pull of the alpha command, but my body started to move without my consent. As my body turn back into a wolf and I stared at him. My heart was pulling me one way as my mind pulled the other. I panicked, not knowing what to do before I finally stopped resisting the burning command to follow my alpha and backed further away from my mate. He let me go, knowing I was being called back.
Before I turned around I looked into his eyes and saw the true knowing and sincerity he had for me. He let me slide this time, but he knew he'd come back for me.

And secretly, I knew he would too.
