Chapter 5

“Go to the back entrance.” I said rapidly removing the security tag from the board as quick as possible and running to the front entrance. An officer starts to chase me but turns around and stats chasing the guys. I head towards the truck climb inside it, toss the skateboard to the back seats, and as quickly as I possibly could I drove the truck out of the parking lot hitting a few cars on my way out. I pull up to the back entrance and I see all the guys being chased by more police officers.

“C’mon hurry…” I grunted while I hit the vehicle horn multiple times.

They all make it out and jump inside the dented truck.

“Hit the gas Matthew!” Yelled Johnson in desperation.

I accelerate and I hear gunshots, a police officer had shot at one of the tires. The truck swerved from left to right. I tried to keep control but it kept zigzagging. I look at my hands for a split second to see that they are shaking uncontrollably and when I look back up there was a trailer and it was heading directly towards us. All I remember after is waking up, looking around and see that I was upside down, the truck had flipped. I immediately turn around to see my all of my friends unconscious.

“Guys wake up!” I scream terrified.

The door opened and I felt a strong hand grab my arm and yank me out of the truck, it was a police officer. I heard him grab the handcuffs and thought I couldn’t go to jail, not as a sophomore in high school. So I caught the officer off guard and ran for it. He ran after me and tackled me to the ground. He forced me to stay on the ground, I resisted and struggled to get back up.

“No! No! No! Stop! No! No!” I sobbed and yelled

“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have an attorney present during your questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney one will be appointed for you.” Spoke the officer while arresting me.
