Amara:
'I really don't know why we need to go to these things! I haven't had one weekend off in 2 months mum!' I huffed
'Darling, your father and I have to attend, plus everyone is always so keen to see you' mother said giving me a gentle rub on the arm
'Ugh only because they are trying to set me up with their hideous slimy sons' I mumbled
'Can you blame them, you are the most gorgeous bachelorette around, plus you will soon be one of the finest Hogwarts students there is!' she gleamed with excitement as she trotted towards the front door.
Let me fill you in, my name is Amara-Alexis Lupos Sinclair, daughter to the count and countess Sinclair (my mother and father) and I have been homeschooled for my whole life, out of sight and out of mind....up until a month ago. As a daughter to two very powerful people in the wizarding world, I being their only offspring, became a target for socialites and aristocrats and their sons. I had never truly known how desired I was, that was until my 16th birthday, when I became...desired.
You see, in the world of the upper class, arranged marriages are not uncommon, in fact they are expected, so when teenagers become of age they are to be sorted into a relationship known as an 'understanding' and from their will later develop into a marriage. Pairing Balls are similar to a Debutante's Ball, families of the rich, wealthy and powerful attend with their children in hopes they will find a suitable match, so far I've had no luck. Don't get me wrong, this isn't because boys don't want me, it's that I don't want them!
As a result of my unsuccessful attempts at finding a man, my parents also thought 16 would be a good age to start school, to enable me to meet new friends and mainly new boys. I start next week!
Anyway, now that you are caught up, let's get back to me being dragged to another pairing ball.
'Mother please, we have been at this for months, I simply refuse to lower myself to the standards of those creatures you try and set me up with!' I grunted back at her.
'Amara please my dear, for your father and I! A nice pretty smile and good manners is all we ask' she pleaded with me
'This is total bullshit but ok!' I grumbled angrily
'AMARA-ALEXIS!' my head snapped to the staircase as my father paced forward, only he used my full name.
'Speak like that again and I will be sure to match you with the foulest man I can find!' he threatened
'Yes father' I said with a slight humorous tone to my voice.
I took one last glance at myself in the mirror before we headed out the door.
My small petite frame barely held the dress to my body, luckily over the past year or two, I developed some curves here or there and a nice set of boobs to finally fill out these dresses my mother has been putting me in.

My long dark hair cascaded down my back and my olive skin had a slight glow to it. My mother had picked out a satin green short dress, a black oversized and black heels. This evening's event was clearly one of the more casual events as normally the dress code is ball gowns and tuxedos.
I was not in the mood for this, but as always, I plastered a smile on my face and prepared myself for a night full of awkward silences and fake smiles.
