"Whoa," he went closer to the mirror and examined his new hairdo. He looked at me and smiled shyly, "Um, I really appreciate you fixing me up, Natalie, but... We haven't got much time left. And I think you should fix your hair, too. I mean, right now."
"Yeah, yeah, I'll just uh, do this," I put the hair clips on and tied a part of my hair at the back, "And... I'm finished. Let's go?" I asked. He smiles and nodded. Maybe this guy wasn't really as bad as I thought. He was actually pretty nice. We got our keys and locked the door after going out. And then we proceeded to the elevator.
Upon arriving, I twitched. The line was very long, and it looked like it would take forever before we actually got the chance to step inside. Seriously.
"Um..why is the line so long?" I asked Leon. Yeah, Leon. His name was too long. Yeah, I was one to talk. My name was made up of three syllables, while his was made up of only two. But in my defense, 'Leonel' was too formal. And I didn't want to sound like a business partner or something.
He just shrugged and said, "This is normal." He put his hands in his pocket and whistled.
"This is normal?" He nodded.
The heck? I don't want to get all sweaty and wait here like a freakin' statue. I didn't come all the way here just to stand up every morning for hours. I've got to do something. I mean, there are still about 50 people before us! Just how long will we wait in here? 1 hour? 2 hours? NO WAY.
Maybe it would be better if I just jumped from the window of this floor, but...
I looked at Leon and sighed. It's just as I thought. What if I scare him?
"AHA!" I beamed at Leon.
He stopped whistling and looked at me like I just grew another head. "What? Do you need anything?"
"Um, is there a staircase here or something?" I asked. If I jumped from floor to floor, I could still use 'I just happen to be too athletic' as an excuse. And no one would find out what I really am!
"Uh, let's see," he thought for a second. Then he smiled at me and pointed towards his right. "There is one, right there. It goes all the way to the ground floor. But we'll really get exhausted if we use that. I'm gonna be fine since I've got a fair amount of stamina but... Are you?"
"Don't worry. I'm not as weak as you think." I'm actually stronger than you, to be clear. I said proudly. Oh Leon, you don't know what you're talking about. I'm a vampire, so you could expect that I have superhuman strength.
