Upon entering the police station Leon S. Kennedy knew he couldn't stay long. From the entry way to the waiting room he found a long hall stretching around the corner of the building. Carefully he inspected the corpses along the floor and found them to be dead, actually dead. A junction box sat at the corner of the hall, but he could not do much with it. It was probably meant for the line of windows running down the adjacent hall. Another body lied between him and the door at the end. Seeing nothing of interest he continued his search, but once he stepped up to the body he noticed something odd.

Dripping down onto the body of the fallen officer was a line of drool. Leon followed the trail of drool up to the ceiling. A gasp escaped him and his heart nearly leapt out from his chest. Hanging from the ceiling with massive red claws a horrific... He didn't know what to call it, stared down at him. Well, at least he thought it did, but the thing clearly had no eyes to speak of.

What the creature did have were massive, razor sharp teeth. It's mouth opened and from its black gullet slipped out a long, pointed tongue which whipped and twirled not unlike a tendril of an octopus. It slid across its bran-like skull, spread saliva all across the pinkish flesh. An ungodly hiss emitted from its throat, letting out a puff of hot, putrid breath along with it.

Leon stood as still as a statue. His fingers, while trembling, gripped the handle of his pistol. Quietly he upholstered his weapon. He hoped he didn't need to use it, but this thing stood between him and the next room, and a potential escape route.

The creature began to move. Crawling across the ceiling it moved over Leon's head, totally unaware of his presence. Even so Leon did not dare to move until it passed over. The trail of drool followed the creature and Leon let it stain the shoulder of his uniform.

It can't see me?

The creature's backs legs passed over him and it motioned to turn at the corner. This was his chance. He looked backed down the hall. A door stood to his right, and another at the end. He opted out making a run for it instead creeping toward the first door. He reached out his hand and gently caressed the knob. Leon twisted it; locked. He looked over his shoulder to see the edge of the red creature leave his sight as it made its way down the adjacent hall. It was now or never.

He didn't dash or sprint toward the door, though he did quicken his pace. Despite how short the distance time seemed to drag. Once he was five feet away he reached out his hand, hoping this door was not locked as well. He passed the window which viewed the alley way beside the building. Almost there. Leon felt at ease.

He did not see it in time. To him it was a black blur at the edge of his vision. Only after did the sickly 'caw' it let out did he realise what it was. The crow at window. It's body slammed into the glass. Although it did not break the massive spider webbed crack was wider than Leon's head. Plus the impact made a loud bang the moment the crow hit the window.

"Shit!" Leon realized that he spoke aloud. He threw his hand up to cover his mouth. But it was too late.

Whether it was the bird or him it did not matter. Leon turned his head toward the empty hall. At first there was nothing. Then, like a frog, it hopped from behind the wall, crouching on the floor. It's mouth was wide open showing him it's pointed teeth, and it waved it massive tongue; almost as if it were telling him: "found you!" Leon grimaced at the sight of that tongue.

What should do? What should I do?

Too scared to move, despite how close he was to the door, Leon was frozen to the spot. Hesitance proved costly as the horrid monster the distance between them in half with a single leap. Shit! Too late to run. Leon had no choice but to fight.
