Drink ice coffee. Panic attack.
A loud gunshot echoed throughout the coward streets. People screamed as they ran to the nearest exit. A small blonde haired boy falls to the floor with a thud as his head hits the hard ground. In Front of the fallen body was a slightly older boy wide eyed stare at the man holding a gun in his right hand and bright neon orange jacket in his left as he breathed heavily. The young boy stood in total shock, tears arose in his eyes he couldn't move a single muscle in his body, his breath stopped completely as if his very heart stopped alongside the blonde haired boy. He looked blankly at the boy as he saw a gunshot wound in the middle of the fallen boy's chest.
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?" a woman shrieks at the man as she ran over the blonde hair boy, cursing at the man. Tears ran down her face as she held the boy close to her chest.
"Carter? You okay dude?" a young males voice echoed in what seemed the distant question concernedly.
"Huh? Oh yeah I'm fine just um..." Carter's voice started trailing off as his voice started to fill with grief.
"Jackson?" the guy said, finishing Carter's sentence, sympathy filling his voice.
"Yeah... H-His birthdays coming up heh, I wonder if he'll like his gift.." Carter started to feel around the floor for a box.
"Here dude it's right here and I'm sure he'll love it man." Cater held the box in his hand and felt around it, "Thanks Michael ''. The sound of people talking started to grow louder from a distance.
"Looks like the lunch rush is coming in, do you wanna stay here or we could go into a classroom if you want." Carter looked around as if he was looking for something. He felt for his walking stick and grabbed it then slowly stood up with a small smile.
"Lets go to see Alina, I'm pretty sure she's in the library. C'mon let's go" Michael and Carter walked to the library in the school which was more difficult than normal because people decided they wanted to go that way. Carter stumbled a lot and almost fell from the people pushing and slamming into him.
"We're almost there dude, don't worry. Maybe Mrs. Lemon can let us play a book, that would be awesome." Michael said reassuringly.
"Yeah that would be aweso-ow!'' Carter fell on the floor trying to find his walking stick again.
"Jesus Carter you're so patchic, what? Can't even stand on your own two feet?" a voice rang over Carter's head as he felt around his walking stick.
"Oh fuck off brody, give him back his walking stick!" Michael hissed at him, his voice filled with rage, Carter slowly got up using the wall as support while the blue haired boy tried to stand in front of his friend to try and defend him. The tall brute pushed the skinny boy to the floor with a loud thump, Carter looked around trying to figure out what happened as confusion filled his brain.
"Michael are you okay?!' Carter said concern. Flashbacks started to flood his head. Flashes of his brother bleeding out, his mom yelling, screaming at the sky for mercy on her son as sirens in the distant start to become more clear. The young boy screamed out to his brother as paramedics took him away.
"JACKSON NO PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME YOU'RE GOING TO LIVE!!!" Carter started to hyperventilate as his thoughts took over his mind leaving him unable to think clear. He fell to his knees and started shaking like he was freezing, tears running down his face as he was unable to breathe at all. Michael rushed to his feet as fast as he could to see what was happening to his friend as he held him close trying to get the boys breathing under control.
"The hell is wrong with him? Is he having a spaz attack? All I did was take his stuipd stick!" Brody said, dazed and actually startled at the sight .
"DON'T JUST STAND THERE GO GET THE NURSE YOU MORON HES HAVING A PANIC ATTACK!" Michael howled at the brute, for a minute he stood there shaken then started to run to the nurses office. Everyone had heard what Michael howled and started to form a crowd around him and the skittish boy, who was holding his knees tightly which made matters worse. A young girl came out from the library then started to the lunch room as she saw a crowd form around her friends. She dashed over to Michael's side to see Carter, still hyperventilation as he dug his nails into his skin.
"Carter, Carter hey it's me Alina you're okay." The curly haired girl looked up to Michael who was trying to keep the crowd at bay as he pushed everyone back and growled at anyone who tried to pull out a phone.
"What the hell happened?! What made him go into a severe panic state??" the young girl said looking up at the tall boy standing a couple inches away from her. Michael sighed softly and painfully met her eyes and gave her a look of "you know who". The girl became furious but held it in as she tried to calm her friend down, speaking softly to him. Carter then started to shake a little less hearing his friends talking.
"w-why...why...¨ Carter said wistfully, his voice was quiet and shaky, almost stuttering. Michael and Alina looked at each other concerned then hugged Cater tightly like his mother did he was little. The two of them managed to pick up Carter, each on one side of him and brought him to the library where the nurse met them. This was the only space Carter felt safe in this state of mind. Alina pulled out some headphones and Carter's phone to put on his calming mix. She handed the headphones to Cater who took them shyly like he was a little kid given something new by a stranger, he put the headphones in and instantly felt calmer.
"Just take deep breaths okay? You can do that Carter." The nurse's soft tone voice had calmed down the frightened boy more as his breathing became normal and steady.
"Just breath, it's okay it's all okay. You're safe now I promise" the nurse said, gently patting the boy's head. His thoughts came over him and played his hands like the piano like he did when he was younger. Alina and Michael step back and little to talk with the nurse to explain what happened and who caused this mess. Thoughts filled Caters mind, in the corner of his eye he saw him.
"Um... hey nerd, look I was told if I don't make up to you for making you do that freaky breakdown I would get suspended. I got so many detentions already, so what can I do to make it up to you?" Cater stared blankly at this brute, his face filled with confusion and horror, he couldn't speak, like someone cut off his tongue. The tall boy got a little bit closer to him. His whole body was screaming at him to get away to move your legs but he couldn't, his thoughts racing for his legs as he thought of every possible thing Brody has or could do to him.
"i-i want you to leave!! Leave me alone!" he thought. Alina and Micheal looked over to Cater to see how he was doing and immediately ran over when they saw Brody.
"what the hell do you think you're doing here!" Alina said, starting to shelter Carter keeping his breathing calm and steady.
"I need to make this cry baby forgive me so I don't get my ass suspended" Brody screamed anger showing in his eyes.
"Well maybe you should have thought about that before you picked on my friend so fucking much you dick ward!!" Aline yelled at the tall boy now flustered with guilt and anger, her face was red and her eyes filled with hatred. Brody stormed off not saying another word, as Aline held Cater closer to her chest trying hard not to break down.
"A-Aline are you o-okay?" Cater said softly drying his eyes as he looked up as his friend, his eyes able to somewhat focus and see his friend clearly. Her dark brown curly hair draped down pasted her shoulders, her freckles laid on her light coco skin.
"Yeah don't worry about me, are you okay? Not shaking are you?" The small curly hair girl examined Carter's heart rate and his eyes to see if they dilated. After a few minutes Cater finally said
"No no i'm o-okay, still calming down a little". He looked down at his hands, shaking them vigorously. As the periods went by the three stuck together. Alina became a mama eagle , the fierce girl wouldn't let anyone hurt her friend. As the school day ended the green haired boy slowly made his way to the school parking lot where he's friends would meet him.
"Just a few more steps, you can do this. You made it through the day and that's good." He hurried along, keeping his arms close to his chest looking down at the ground. Seeing the gravely concrete run below him.
