I woke up in the same position I fell asleep in. Only now, there was no one beside me. I sat up slowly, my body still groggy from yesterday's events. I looked around to see if I was indeed on my own. That was when I saw a note beside me. I immediately recognized the penmanship to belong to my King.
My dearest Sasha,
The girls and I went to the market to get some more food for the house. It's usually pretty packed on Sundays, so it may be a while before we return. I have the bottle of replenishing fluid from Lauren's physician, Dr. Bailon, on the island in the kitchen. And I have one last surprise for you waiting inside. I think you'll be very pleased. I shall see you soon lovely.

I smiled before running the tips of my fingers over the note. Even when he wasn't physically near me, he still managed to bring my body to life. I got to my feet, making sure to make slow movements to the kitchen. As I set foot out the greenhouse, the morning breeze touched my skin, causing my eyes to close as I soaked it in. I always loved mornings like this. Suddenly, my ears picked up on a lone meow from not too far away from me. I looked to our bushes and found the most beautiful cat. Its fur was multicolored, its ears twitching from the many sounds around us. What really captured me were its eyes. They were green and clear.

I slowly walked to it, kneeling until my knees touched the grass. It let out another meow as I brought my hand out for it to sniff. I smiled when it licked my knuckle and began to purr.
"Hi there," I uttered. "How'd you get here? Or have you always been hiding out here?"
It soon made its way on my lap, tucking its paws under its belly while continuing to purr. I chuckled a little at the sight.
"You remind of my high school girlfriend's kitten. He did the same thing. Had your eyes and fur color, too. He was very different from most cats, though. Whenever I'd pet him, his fur would turn completely black. Her and I named him Shadow because of it."
As I went to pet the cat, its fur immediately turned black. My mouth fell agape as I beheld the sight.
