The wind rustled the leaves of the tall willow tree, a small girl sleeping under, her short brown hair framing against her petite, pale face. She stirred, looking up, bleary eyed, and blinked rapidly to clear her vision. She watched as another young girl, appearing about her age, approached the great tree, along with herself under it. Her long blonde hair blew in the wind, her pink dress flowing with it. The brown-haired girl watched in awe as this girl practically frolicked towards her, so mesmerized she barely noticed her voice ringing out at her.
"Hello?" The young girl called again, the brunette snapped back to attention. She was now sitting approximately 3 yards away from her.
"Are you okay? You're just kinda staring," The blonde stated. Her voice was like the wind in the trees, soft and graceful. A joyful sound, filled with wonder and curiosity. The girl under the willow tree was now fully at attention, focusing only on this wonderful and mysterious girl before her.
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I was just taking a nap!" Her voice squeaked. She adjusted herself so her back now rested comfortably against the tree, in a sitting position.
"So, what brings you here, napping under a tree?" The blonde's voice rang out again. She smiled, a beautiful sight to behold, truly.
"Where are your parents?"
"Oh, I-" The young girl's voice caught in her throat. She cleared it carefully, trying not to cry. She was trying to stay strong.
"T-They..." But she couldn't stay strong, not even in front of this beautiful girl who filled her with such strong emotion. Tears started to spill out of her green eyes, and she sniffed, wiping her eyes with her sleeves.
"Th-They're gone! And they're not coming back!" The child sobbed loudly, squeezing her eyes shut and grabbing her knees to her chest. But suddenly the girl was enveloped in warm, comforting arms and she opened her eyes in shock. The blonde girl had her arms wrapped around the crying thing, tears of her own gently rolling off her face.
"H-hey," The green eyed child softly said, wrapping her own arms around the other girl's small body. She brought her hands up to the angelic girl's face, wiping away her tears.
"I don't like you crying, don't cry," She said, her own face still blindingly covered in tears. The blonde laughed; a jingling of bells.
"Hypocrite," She simply stated, unwrapping her arms from the brown-haired girl. She wiped her own tears, then leaned forwards and wiped the little girl's tears as well. The brunette grabbed the other's hand, looking directly into the gray abyss of the blonde's eyes.
"I want to live with you," She boldly stated, and shock washed onto the blonde girl.
"Oh," She said quietly, looking somber.
"I.. guess that's okay, it's not like anyone can tell me otherwise," She laughed, but it wasn't filled with joy as the brunette noticed. It was an empty laugh, filled with comforting lies. She didn't like how it wasn't a laugh of joy, and she wanted to change that.
Suddenly the blonde stood up.
"If that's going to happen, we need each other's names," She said, holding out her hand to the brunette, still sitting down.
"I'm Alya, Alya Skye, nice to meet you," The brunette stared at those beautiful gray eyes, before grabbing her hand and pulling herself up.
"Cassi. Cassi Adams."
