Chapter 1—Who’s Drake?

I always hated Mondays. I mean, who wouldn’t? I have slept yesterday until around twelve noon. I would still be sleeping until one or two in the afternoon if my mom had not seen my Physics test paper. Because of that, I wasn’t able to go back to sleep feeling a little bad about failing them.

I must admit that I was mostly feeling irritated about the fact that she wanted me to stop going to parties and go study physics instead. I hate physics. I didn’t really want to take up physics but I had no choice. If I could turn back the time, I’d probably just go to Newton and tell him to just get the apple and eat it. I mean, he is probably hungry that’s why he was staring at the apple but he was just too lazy to stand up. When it fell, boom! Physics.

My first class during Mondays is Economics. I’m not really fond of the subject but I do not dread it as much as I dreaded Physics. Aside from that, Mrs. Jones is an okay teacher unlike that boring and strict Mr. Robertson.

I lazily dragged myself out of my bed and forced myself to take a cold shower. It would help me in waking myself up while I haven’t had any coffee yet. It took me only ten minutes to shower. I grabbed my sleeveless dress with flowery design that was hung inside my cabinet. I then pulled out one of my thin cardigan to cover myself up later.

No, I’m not feeling all girly today, especially not after my mom wanted me to be friends with that Drake guy. I don’t even know who he is. I was actually surprised when she told me he was my schoolmate and probably classmate.

I know I should just go on Facebook and search for him so I’d have an idea what he looks like. But doing that would mean I’m giving myself in to my mom’s demand. I still believe I will do just fine in physics as long as Mr. Robertson would stop being such a bore.

After drying my hair up and putting my daily make-up on, I slipped on my doll shoes and walked out of my room with my bag. Knowing my parents are preparing themselves for their office, I just knocked at their door and bid them good bye.

If my mom would be up as early as 6:30 in the morning, I could take my breakfast at home but today was not one of those days. I went to our garage and hopped in to my red mazda.

I dropped by at Starbucks to grab some coffee. After getting my order, I quickly drove my way to my school. As soon as I parked my car at my usual spot in the school’s parking lot, I could see my friends waving at me.

“Good morning, girls!” I greeted them as I kissed each of them on their cheeks.

“Looking fab, Court.” Shelby commented as she puts on a smirk.

I rolled my eyes at her knowing I really wasn’t looking good today. I didn’t put so much effort on how I should look today so I knew she was lying. “More like drab, Shel.”

“Why such a long face as early as now, Court?” Sam told me, pouting a little. I’d have to credit how cute she is whenever she looks at me and others with a concern etched on her face.

I just shook my head and smiled. It’s too early to spoil the day. “Let’s just go to our respective classes, shall we?”

I went to Mrs. Jones class with Sam since we both have economics for our first period. Time passed by in a blur and I was already on my way to the cafeteria with Sam.

“Really, Court. What’s up?” Sam insisted nudging my shoulders.

I sighed and glanced at her. Her grey eyes were looking at me worriedly. “Nothing important, Sam. It’s no big deal.”

“Is it about Tyler?” She asked. Getting no response from me, she added, “What did he do? I’m going to give him a piece of my mind.”

“Samantha, I just didn’t get enough sleep last night. Don’t worry.” I smiled at her reassuringly. She just nodded but there was an obvious doubt in her eyes. She knew I wasn’t telling it all. “I’ll just go to the restroom. You go ahead first.”
