Chapter 2—A Quiz and An Angel

“Courtney, are you ignoring me?” Tyler asked me as I walked out of our room.

He kept on disturbing me during our history period. I would just give him the looks which he clearly does not understand. Can’t he just tell that I want to concentrate?

I just sighed and walked towards my locker. He followed behind me and leaned on the locker beside mine. He was making a puppy face as I glanced at him.

He looked really cute with his eyes blinking that way and that cute little pout on his mouth. He then grabbed me by my waist and whispered, “Why aren’t you talking to me?”

I gave him a peck on the lips and answered. “You know Mr. Carter hates it when his students would talk during class hours, right?”

“I missed you.” He told me, making me smile.

“Where did you go last Saturday?” I asked and I noticed he twitched a little. “I can’t find you at Shelby’s house after I talked to Chelsey.”

“I was looking around for you too.” He told me sounding a little shocked.

I then heard the bell rang and quickly removed his arms around me so I could put my history book back on my locker. I then took my Physics book for my last period before finally closing my locker.

He once again wrapped his arms around me as he stood behind. I then felt his chin on my shoulder and then he whispered, “How about we skip last period and go on a date instead?”

I sighed. Tyler doesn’t usually do this and it’s really hard to decline. I adjusted his arms around my waist as twisted my body so I’m already facing him.

“I got Physics as my last period; I can’t even though I’d love to.”

“You hate physics.”

“I’m already failing the subject and attendance is probably the only reason for Mr. Robertson to pass me.” I told him, honestly. “That is if he would consider my attendance despite my tardiness sometimes.”

“It’s not like skipping it today would make a difference, right?” He told me persistently.

I then removed his hands around me and pushed him slightly away. I checked my watched and I’m ten minutes late for Physics! “I don’t want to repeat it. We’re already late for our last period, Tyler. Bye.”

I then turned towards the direction of my class. I stealthily opened the back door. I should enrol myself in a ninja school this summer because when I entered, everyone looked at me. I then noticed Mr. Robertson’s glare at me.

“Tardy again, Ms. Richards?” He told me. I stood up properly and smiled awkwardly at him as I scanned for a vacant chair.

“Sorry, sir.” I mumbled as I went my way to the available chair near the window.

“You’re lucky we haven’t started with our quiz.” He announced as he turned his back and walked towards his table. “I hope you studied last weekend.”

My jaw dropped as he took out quiz papers and started handling it to us.  I gulped as I saw the paper. I knew there are only two things in here that I’d be able to answer: Name and Date.

I wrote down my name and the date today on the paper. I had to fight the urge to write “unlucky date” on it.

The direction in it was simple: Answer the problems below and show your solution. Box your final answer.
