I tried to not cry all the way home, while Luis purred and rubbed against my arm in a brief, affectionate, sweet way.

"Hey boy," I sniffed, "Can you do something for me? Find me one thing in this life that will make it worth living."

I couldn't help but to laugh at my stupidity. Luis couldn't even understand me. Yet, here I am practically begging him to give me hope.

I stopped at a light and looked to my right and scowled. There just a block away is Lookeewood suites. The highest, most beautiful building in New York.

"Such a shame some horrible old jerk owns it." I muttered, scratching Luis's head.

I have to admit it, I personally didn't know much about the so called, and I quote from the masses of New York City, 'mafia king'. Only that he was rumored to be a cruel man, with an empire built of the many corpses of his fallen enemies. I didn't know his age, or what he looked like. Then again, only he and his followers knew. Normal person only knew of the rumors.

Luis meowed and scratched at the passenger window that I was looking threw.

I sighed, "Need some air buddy?"

I rolled his window down, and turned back to the light. I hated waited here at this time. It always took half a lifetime to be able to go.

Tapping my fingers on the steering wheel, I glace back at Luis. Or should I say, a missing Luis. It takes me more time than it should to click into my mind that my cat has disappeared. I quickly looked in the back, hoping to see him. When I find he's definitely not in my car, I hear honking and look straight ahead at the now green light.

My mind goes everywhere at once, before my eyes settle on a black smudge running towards my right.

"Shit! Luis! Come back!" I squealed and quickly turned right to go after him.

I swerved in and out of lanes, trying to catch up with him, only to see him dashing into the abyss of people in front of none other than Lookewoods.

I bit my lip, and turned into the parking lot.

"I really don't want to go in there. What if those guys come back?" I muttered to myself, but I still knew I had to go in after Luis. He was my family.

I took in a deep breath, weighting heavily on my options. Every fiber of my being screamed at me to not get out of my car. To not walk up to the beautiful, tall golden and glass doors. To not run through crowds of wealthy looking people. To not go into the doorway that Luis squeezed his way past unaware humans opening the door for themselves. To not take the many stairways up. And up. And up. And up.

But I did.

I didn't count the amount of stairwells I took. I can tell you it was a whole lot more than I ever have had the pleasure of taking. Finally, Luis was at the top of the last stairwell. He was pawing at the door, wanting to go through. I heaved for a few minutes, totally realizing how out of shape I was. When I was able to, I went up the last set of twenty or so steps and gathered Luis in my arms.

"I am giving you an overdose of Catnip tonight, I swear to God." I breathed out, my breathing shallow and shaky still.

I peeked out of the small window in the door, looking for an elevator. Lucky for me, there was one at the end of the hall to the right.

Realizing that there were no more stairs to go up, I figured that I was at the very top of Lookewoods. Butterflies swarmed my stomach. I didn't know if the big boss lived here, but I assumed that if he did, then he would for certain be on this floor in a lavish penthouse.

I would have to be quiet, and fast.

I looked down at Luis, begging him with my eyes to not start being...well...a cat. "No scratching, meowing, struggling, or hissing. Understand?"

Happy enough with Luis's confused expression, I crept the door open, grateful that it made no sound. The hallway was quite extraordinary. I couldn't help but take it all in on my way down the long hallway.

The walls were two toned, with gold and red embellishments. Gorgeous coffee tables adorned the walls, with dim lamps on top of them. The doors to each room were a dark oak, with a golden knob. Very classy. Very expensive.

"No please! We had to! Please!" A women's voice brought me to a screeching stop at the last two doors by the elevator. The door to my right had multiple voices ringing out.

"Be quiet, traitor," A heavy accented male voice screamed.

"Please, sir! Please understand that we had to! We are loyal always to you!" A man begged.

Okay, this is that part that I leave these people to their business and get the hell away from this place.

I began to make a run for the elevator when I heard two gunshots pierce the air.

And can you guess what I did?

I. Freaking. Screamed.

I need to go, now!

I got the elevator and push the first floor option.

I heard a door slam open, and a tall man walk out. He looked straight at me, never wavering on his journey to me. And I wish he wasn't so darn attractive. He must have been six feet tall, with dark eyes and dark hair to match. A small scar braced his bottom lip. And he stalked towards me; a hint of playfulness filling his aura.

I repeatedly, in haste, pressed the close elevator door button.

He never took his eyes off mine. It was predator like.

My heart beat faster as he was only a few feet away as the doors shut.
