eiko studied eita's face for a while before giving him a smile.

"hmm? what
about her?"

he noticed the uncertainty in his son's eyes, plus the fact that eita kept on playing with his fingers.

so he tried to at least calm eita down by giving him a smile.

and it worked.

eita let out a sigh and started to question whether this was worth it. will this make things worse or will this do nothing at all?

eita didn't know, but he trusted kenjirou. his father didn't deserve this, he doesn't deserve this, not even atsuko.

"promise me you
won't freak out
or whatever, okay?"

"yes, i pinky
promise."

eiko chuckled lightly and it somehow lessened the burden that eita was feeling.

"so she's- how do
i say this... like-"

eita looked down.

there was a lump in eita's throat as he tried his best not to make his voice crack.

a while now. i'm
so sorry for not
telling you, i just
didn't want to

"but i feel like it'd
hurt you more if i
hid it longer..."

"i'm so sorry."

there was silence for a while and eita didn't want to take a look at his father's face because he's afraid that he might end up crying.

but the silence made him curious, so he looked to see his father smiling faintly at him.

"dad-"

"i already know."

eita's eyes widened immediately when he heard what his father just said.

"you know?"

"but how? for how
long now? why didn't
you do anything?"
