"Why haven't we heard about your strike in the papers yet?" Dad asked.

I shrugged "Yesterday wasn't big enough for a story I guess. But today we'll do better."

"Is your friend Katie writing the article?"

"I haven't seen her, well technically never but I haven't talked to her in ages."

"Well you should tell her about it."

"I will when I can, but I've got to go."
"Of course dear. Be careful."

"I always am."

Blue led me down the road to the square.
The newsies were all assembled in the square.
Singing, and chanting and dancing.

"Heya Sights!" Race said.

"Hey Race."

"Ready for a new day of striking against someone you don't technically work for?"
"Yep."

I stood with Blue as the boys continued to chant and dance in front of the world building.
Someone grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back out of the way as a wagon tore past.

"Careful." Tommy Boy said.
"Scabs."

The gates must have opened and I found myself walking inside the Bullpen with Jack and the others.

"Alright everybody stay calm." Davie instructed.

"Let's soak 'em for Crutchie!" Jack yelled.

With that most the newsies who were inside the bullpen ran forward, except for Tommy Boy who stayed in front of me clearly to protect me.

"Oh no."
I heard a door open and a bunch of people come out.

"Sights get outta here." Tommy Boy muttered.

I turned just in time to hear the gates close.
Suddenly someone shoved me forward.

"Okay scratch dat, uh stay behind me."
I could tell it was no use though because we were most definitely surrounded.

"Oh hey Oscar, look at dat it's little Natalia." I heard Morris say threateningly.
Well this is just great.

"And they have clubs now." Tommy muttered.

"Is that what that is?"
Blue started growling at the men as they got closer.

Suddenly one of them darted forward and grabbed my arm yanking me away from Tommy Boy.

All around me I could hear the others struggling against the men.

Blue started to jump at my captor as suddenly everyone seemed to freeze.

"Never fear Brooklyn is here!" A very familiar voice called.

I could hear slingshots being used to send pebbles at the Cribs.

"I see you decided to show up!" Jack called.

Spot jumped down into the fray in front of me.

"Well I couldn't let 'em hurt my Lia," he threw a punch at the guy holding me and added quietly "Make dat an even 40."

"This one wasn't my fault."

"Sure it wasn't, duck." I ducked down and he punched at another guy.

Someone opened the gates and the rest of the guys came flooding in.

"We should probably get ya outta 'ere."

"I mean probably but I can help."

Another man tried to grab me but I shoved him away with my cane.
