Wednesday, September 5

"Good morning."

I knew Trey eventually came to bed last night because I heard him but when I woke up this morning he wasn't there. I'm usually the one to wake up before him these days so I was a little surprised by it. I was expecting to be the first one in the kitchen just like yesterday but here he was.

"Hey. You okay?" he replied kinda dryly.

"No." I poked out my lip and sat on his lap. "I can tell you're still mad at me about last night."

"I'm cool Kelz, I understand why you got upset at what I was saying."

"Yeah but I might've been a little too dramatic in my response."

"Might've? A little?"

"Trey!" I groaned. "I thought you said you were cool."

"Aye I'm just saying. But I shouldn't have tried to bring up La at that moment so I'll take my part in it too."

I sighed, "Yeah well... look we don't even have to talk about that shit. Right now I just wanna make sure you and I are good."

"We are."

"Are we really?" I purposely got all up in his face until our noses were touching.

"Uh... you brush your teeth yet?"

I gasped and playfully hit his chest as I pulled away. "I know you smell the mint witcha disrespectful ass! And even if I didn't, so what? We live in each other's skin, you gon get whatever version of me I feel like giving you and you're gonna like it."

"Yes ma'am, heard you." he laughed.

"Good. Now, I would like to formally apologize for my attitude yesterday in the hopes that you'll accept."

"With the sophisticated ass way you just said that, how can I not accept?"

"Ahhh, thank youuuuu." I sang before kissing his lips. "What has you up so early this morning?"

"My stomach woke me up."

"Damn you should've told me! I could've made you a whole meal."

"Babe you were asleep."

"Um it's called you could've woke me up just like your stomach did to you. Please tell me you ate something."

"Yes mother, I made a sandwich." he said jokingly.

"And that's not even enough."

"It's good Kelz, I didn't need much. I was gonna make something for the kids too though cause I was thinking I'll bring them to school today."

"Nope, I'll handle all that. You just sit and wait for me to make breakfast so you can eat an actual meal, then go finish getting your sleep while I drive the kids."

"Oh you really tryna make up for last night huh?"

"It's not even that, I just wanna be more involved in general. I've also cleared up my schedule a whole lot this week so I don't go back in for meetings until Monday. See, I really am trying."

"Aw Kelz..." he sighed, "Look, I know I tend to get mad and I be making you feel guilty and whatnot but I don't want you to feel forced to move things around if it's not reasonable. At the end of the day you got shit to handle."

"No, at the end of the day y'all are more important than anything else." I corrected. "I just need to get it together so me working doesn't get in the way of spending time with you and the kids. The minute I start working too much is when the problems start."
