Chapter 9 - The Jesus Has Returned

I was sitting on the bench with Kiyoko while the players were practicing for the match of the Karasuno neighborhood association team if that's what they called 

It's already 6:30 pm and then four guys came in and started talking how it brings back memories then they noticed me and began walking towards my presence making me sweat dropped

"Are you F/n's kid?" the guy in a glasses or known as Shimada said, I give him a small nod and he started ruffling my hair "No wonder you look so familiar" he chuckled

"How's your dad doing? I haven't seen him in ages" Takinoue asked making me jumped a bit, and pulled up my scarf 

"He passed away when I graduate middle school" I muttered enough for them to hear it making them surprised and felt guilty for asking the question

"I did not know about that, sorry to hear that kiddo, didn't mean to put up that topic" Takinoue apologized which I forgave him

"Oi you idiots! Leave the poor kid alone, start warming up!" Ukai scolded them making them laugh nervously and began walking off except for Mori who gave me a piece of candy before he go

'Well atleast that dude gave me free candy' I sighed silently as I unwrap the candy and pull my scarf down a little, allowing the candy to fly into my mouth carefully not to get choke 

I was about to roll up the wrapper when I discovered a sentence scrawled on I Found You 'Oh shit missing halloween reference' I panicked

"Is something wrong Y/n?" Kiyoko spoke as she approached me. "Nothing, just chewing a candy. Why?" I muttered as she softly stroked my h/c hair "Just making sure you're ok" she said, and I nodded and leaned on her touch

"Hey! It's Asahi-san!" Hinata yelled alarming the others in the gym 'Took you long enough manbun' I smiled then Ukai quickly march his way towards the door and scold him for being 'late'

The match was about to begin and Asahi looks depressed, I excused myself to Kiyoko walking towards the Jesus- I mean manbun- I mean Asahi 

I lightly tap his shoulder, leading him to gaze down on me "Oh, it's you from the school halls" he remarked and I just simply nodded "I'm an assistant coach, Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you" 

"Nice to meet you too, L/n-san. My name is Azumane Asahi, uhm...wing spiker" he introduced himself as I softly grabbed his hand, startled him with by action "Good luck Ace" I muttered which he smile "I will, thanks"

The whistle blew as everyone was stretching on the court. I was standing next to Takeda because Kiyoko would be doing the scoring, then I observed Asahi who still had a gloomy expression on his face as he looked at Sugawara and Nishinoya.

I excused myself to Takeda and walk towards Asahi once again

I tap his shoulder making him turn to look at me "Oh L/n, is something wrong?" he asked "Do you like volleyball?" I asked which makes him surprised "What?" 

"I said do you like volleyball?" I raised my voice a bit making Asahi fell silent a bit 

"Yes..I like being here" he answered looking down "Remember you're not the only one on the team, everyone is counting on you. You're an Ace"

"I know but.." "No buts. You gotta let go of that stuff from the past, because that shit doesn't matter. The only thing matters is what you choose to be now" 

He look at me wide eye unable to speak anything "All the more reason to play and try your hardest, be sure to do your best and win" 

I gently pat his arm and walk away but I noticed in the corner of my eye, Asahi smiled at me 'Mission complete' I smile as I stand beside Takeda again
