sooyoon - weeekly

"and you're sure that i can't go play in the snow?"

soojin asked for the fourth time. she had been sitting around all day- though it wasn't even that far into said day. it was about noon, and she'd been awake for almost five hours now; her mom always made her wake up early. christmas was no exception.

"you know that the more you ask, the less i'll allow it," soojin's mom responded from the kitchen. "begging won't get you anywhere,"

"i just think that it would be enjoyable for me to go into the snow and entertain myself there. it would do well for you too, so that you don't have to watch over me,"

"you're gonna get your dress wet,"

"what if i just went to the porch and sat?"

"fine," she finally gave in, "don't leave the porch, though,"

"thank you, mother," soojin smiled widely. it was the closest she could get to being like other kids on christmas. her family never really celebrated, and not only did they not give her gifts, but she also wasn't allowed to play in the snow. "i should be in soon,"

"alright,"

the young girl made her way outside, feeling a wave of coldness overcome her as she opened the door. it was a bad idea to wear a dress in such harsh weather. but it was better to just deal with the harsh weather rather than stay inside doing nothing. this way she could admire the beautiful snow better. a few chairs were sat on the porch, and soojin sat on the one in the far left.

she was dreaming for a christmas miracle, wanting- no, needing- something to take her away from her home, even just for an hour. all she wanted was a small getaway from her tiring life. yet, the only thing she could do for now was stare at the glistening snow, the snow that she just longed to play in.

the cold was endurable, but soojin couldn't deny how cold she was. the only alternative was going back inside, which was the last thing that she wanted to do. the second that she stepped back in, she wouldn't be allowed out until school started back up. she was already going to have to face some kind of punishment for annoying her mom to the point of letting her out. all she could do for now was rub her arms to keep warm.

not a soul was outside. she assumed that it was due to all of the people wanting to spend more time with their family. which was why a small girl walking past had caught her eye.

to be fair, she wasn't very small. in fact, they were about the same height- but from soojin's perspective on the porch, she looked quite small.

a red sweater kept her warm from the cold, and looked absolutely stunning on her. it seemed to do it's job well, as the girl didn't seem to be cold in any way at all. though, soojin's not sure how her legs got the same heat, since she had on a skirt and thin stockings. a few small bags were being held in her hands- probably gifts for someone.

her hair fell right above her shoulders and were slightly wavy- which complemented her baby face. she hummed a christmas song as she skipped by.

then the girl seemed to catch notice of soojin's presence.

"hello!" she smiled- soojin took note that this smile was adorable and almost reminded her of a heart- and waved to soojin, who was taken aback by her actually saying something.

"oh... hi," soojin responded timidly.

"merry christmas," the girl wished, walking up to soojin- she then gave a sigh and pouted, "you look cold,"

"i'm fine," she lied, before motioning to the other's bags, "where are you headed with those?"

"just my friend's house. jimin, jihyo, and i always celebrate together,"

"ah,"

the girl gave another smile, pointing to the chair next to her, "do you mind if i sit here? you seem lonely,"

"um, actually, i'm not sure that my mom would let you," she responded honestly.

a large pout sat on the girl's face, "hm... then do you wanna go out for a bit? you shouldn't be alone on christmas. and you can ask your mom too,"

"i'm..." soojin was about to be honest. but she'd been wishing for this. she needed a getaway. and she was finally getting one. if this girl was actually a bad person, then soojin would still be fine. she was relatively strong- and this girl didn't look that way. and her mom would punish her either way. soojin smiled widely, "i'm sure that she'd be fine with it,"

"yay!" she clapped happily, "do you want me to introduce you to jimin and jihan? or do you want to explore around town? oooh, i should get you a present! what kind of stuff do you like-"

"it's not necessary. just your company is enough,"

"are you sure? it's christmas!"

"i'm sure," soojin stood up, "what's your name?"

"oh, yeah. i'm jiyoon," the girl, jiyoon, held out a hand- the one that wasn't carrying gifts-, "and you are?"

"soojin," she took jiyoon's hand, giving it a light shake.

"are you ready to experience your best christmas ever?"

"a little cocky there, aren't you?"

she gave a small chuckle, one that sounded like heaven to soojin's ears,

"just a little,"
