I sat on the edge of the cliff, remembering the days when I used to think life was perfect. But then again, didn't it used to be? Father always described Motunui as the perfect place; a paradise. Nobody ever said otherwise. I mean, he was the chief, and he did have a point.

The sand was soft to the touch, and the lagoon would glitter all day under the shimmering sun. I used to love dancing by the light of the moon, gently swaying along to the tune my Grandma would hum, as she smiled and swayed along with me. The cool night breeze would blow my hair into my face, and we would laugh as I swept it out of the way again.

What I would give to relive just one of those nights.. But I can't. Because life on the island isn't like that anymore. Not at all. Not since.. well, let me start from the beginning.
