Chap. 3 - Feels like home

Sophia was suddenly jostled awake by some turbulence. She was having the most amazing dream and she was really annoyed she'd been woken up. She was dreaming about that guy she'd just met, Ian Crawford. He was a mystery for her. It was like he had a split personality. One minute he was all charming and nice and the next he was a real jerk. She still didn't know why she had agreed to give him her email address, but maybe she was secretly glad she had. There was absolutely no doubt that the dream had been a very good dream, although she couldn't remeber enough of it to be sure as to why.

She checked the time and realized she would be landing in Bologna soon and so decided to start putting all her things back in her bag.

She couldn't wait for her sister and Lucia, one of their mutual and closest friends, to come and pick her up ready for a much awaited girls-night-out. She could already picture the three of them giggling to Pretty Little Liars, one of their favourite TV shows, and drinking hot chocolate while drooling over the hottest actors. Yes, she most definitely couldn't wait.

"Sophie!!!! We're here!"

She turned around and saw her two girls waiving at her frantically. She ran up to them squealing. She had to admit the whole scene reminded her an awful lot of the scene in Mamma Mia when Donna's friends arrive. Between the jumping up and down and hugging each other, shouting in such a way that they probably disturbed the whole airport, it was a perfect reenaction.

"I missed you both so much!"

"So did I sis" said Viola with a huge grin on her face.

"Aww! You two are always so cute" gushed Lucia hugging them both.

"So where are we going first?" Sophie asked wondering.

"Well", said Lucy, "how about going to the flat first so that you can leave your stuff and then going out to eat?"

Sophie thought it was the perfect plan.

Since all three of them lived away, they had decided to rent an apartment together for a couple of weeks, giving them the opportunity of seeing each other and also of spending as much time as they wanted with all of their friends who lived there.

She felt complete again, after all, little Viola, who was going to celebrate her 23rd birthday in a few months, and Lucia, who, instead, was her same age, nearly 25, to be precise, were like her other halfs, or should she say, two-thirds?

Anyway, she just felt so happy to see them. She looked at them well. Viola was her usual self, with a mixture of styles all fused together, which for her worked perfectly, complementing and enhancing her beautiful creamy and always tanned skin and glossy brown hair with natural caramel highlights. Lucia on the other hand looked great with her dark brown hair styled in a messy bun and little make-up. She had missed them so much!

She couldn't help but notice how different she and Viola had always looked. She was more of a girly girl with her natural rich chocolate curls and really pale skin. In fact she easily looked like Snow white if she wasn't careful with the make up she put on...

After having left Sophie's luggage in the flat, they went for a quick walk though the centre of Bologna, in search of a pizzeria.

Sophie couldn't help but ponder that of all the things she missed from home, one of them was most definitely the food. She could cook herself any kind of pasta as many times as she wanted but, unfortunately, pizza was something she didn't seem to be able to recreate easily.

Having eaten what she considered one of the best pizzas in her entire life, Sophie was dragged by the two other girls to a certain ice-cream shop, that they both insisted everybody considered the best for miles, Gianni's. It was in Piazza Maggiore under the Torre degli Asinelli, this really high brick tower where, when they were much younger, Viola had had a panic attack half way up for no apparent reason. Eating her ice-cream Sophie felt really glad they had insisted in going there. It was absolutely delicious!

After they finished their ice-creams, the girls walked back to the small apartment and sat down on the sofa for one of their famous PLL marathons.  Between one episode and the next they sang their hearts out and danced like mad people to hits like Animals or Maps by Maroon 5 or Taylor Swift's Shake it off. They also spent hours arguing about who they thought was -A, without ever managing to agree on any possible theory.

It was the best fun night Sophie had had in ages and she couldn't help but feel a bit sad at the thought that all this would end after a mere two weeks, but, at the same time, her mind rapidly drifted to Ian, the handsome man she would see again so soon. All in all, she had something to look forward to, and so Sophie went to sleep with a soft smile on her face. The same smile you get when you know you are going to have good dreams, in her case specifically,  dreams of a certain young man.
