I heard the doorknob turn and click.   I jumped out of bed and starred at the door.  A girl with natural curly brown hair and brown eyes was carrying two large purple suitcases.  She looked up at me and smiled.

"My arrival was much unexpected, I presume?" She asked with sarcasm.  Her voice had a hint of a French accent.

"Yes, it did," I replied.  "And are you Juliet or Claire?"

"Juliet.  How did you know?" She seemed to have not noticed the whiteboard on the door.

"On the door it says our roommates' names." Juliet set her suitcases on the bed nearest the bathroom and walked to the door.  She peered out and closed the door.

"I must have missed that.  Oh, what is your name?"

"Kylee," I smiled. "Have you ever lived in France before?"

"Yes.  I actually lived there two years ago, but then I moved to Ann Arbor.  My accent still lives in me though I speak English." Juliet replied.  I liked this girl.  She was kinda urban and unexpected.  I wonder what Claire is like.  Suddenly, there was a big bang, and the door swung open.

"Hi!  Sorry for the big rush in!  These bags are heavy!" She dumped her bags next to the bed in the middle.  "My name is Claire!" Her thick, blonde hair was in her face and her big blue eyes were wide with excitement.  She seemed very nice, but disorganized.

"Hi, my name is Kylee," I said, pushing a strand of my red hair away from my face.

"Bonjour, je m'appelle Juliet," Juliet said in French.

            "What?" Claire asked.

"Juliet said, 'Hello, my name is Juliet'." I translated.  I knew some French, but I couldn't carry on a conversation.

"Oh, that is so cool!" Claire squealed.

Juliet gave me a look that said this would be a long year.  I nodded back in agreement.

"So, why are you guys here to do?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"Well, I just love to sing and dance so I am here for that.  What about you?" Claire asked, turning to Juliet.

"I'm just very committed to dance; that is all," She replied.

"Me too, but I'm trying something new and doing all three.  I want to be in the musical, Beauty and the Beast.  Have you guys considered doing it?" I queried.

"Oh yes, I have looked into that.  I want to try out for the role of Babette," Juliet announced.  Babette was a feather duster who had chemistry with Lumiere.

"When are the auditions?" Claire asked.

"Tomorrow," I put in.  I was very nervous.  "What song are you going to sing?"

"Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri," Juliet replied.  "What about you?"

"Truthfully, I don't know what song I'm going to sing," I confessed.

"Well you better think quick!  The auditions are tomorrow!" Juliet cried.

"I know, I know.  I will think of something.  I just haven't thought of it yet." A distant bell rang that signaled dinner.

"Does anyone remember what floor the cafeteria is on?" Claire asked.

"The fifth floor; the top floor.  I don't know why they put it on the highest level," I interjected.

"Well, we better get a move on then," Juliet said encouragingly.  She jumped up from her bed and started walking out the door.  "Well, what are you waiting for?"

Claire and I followed Juliet out of the door.  Well, at least my roommates weren't mean.
