Woke up naked in bed. A man laying next to me, awake. It had been a few days since me and Ethan were sleeping together after I said we were friends.
"How'd you sleep?"
"Not as bad, and did you sleep at all?"
"Nope. I stood up staring at you, making sure nobody hurts you."
He kissed my forhead slightly, he then smiled.
"You think I have time to clean my clothes before heading to work?"
"Yeah, I'll clean them for you actually!"
I got up and put the robe someone I forgot had given me and grabbed his clothes from the floor and proceeded to the machines.
about an hour later.
Imagine rushing to work that you bump into someone. Uh oh... it's your boss, Dr. Masters.
"I'm terribly sorry! I-I didn't mean to!-"
"It's fine, nobody got hurt so it's okay."
I stared at him for a while.
"Are you okay? You seem to be wandering off-"
He snapped his fingers,
"Oh, Uh, I-I'm fine! I'll get to work-"
I rushed to my desk and put my things down.
this was super awkward ..
Suddenly, the phone rang,
"Ah,yes hello?"
"Yes, I'm looking for Bill please."
"I'll get him now, please hold."
I put the lady on hold and knocked on his door slightly,
"Come in,"
"Uhm, a lady on the phone wants to speak to you,"
"Whats her name?"
"She didn't say"
He grabbed the phone, "Yes, hello, Dr. Masters."
I could tell the lady was mad so I went to my desk and grabbed the phone and held it to my ear and covered the other part,
"Bill, why aren't you coming early tonight! I told you theres this dinner and I don't want to be alone with people I don't know in a restaurant!.Jesus Bill I wish you'd just let your work go for a day or two!.."
"Libby, I can't let my work go. I need to finish a lot of paper work and if I don't finish it nobody will."
"Thats all you care about Bill. Work. Just forget it, I'll handle it. "
"Okay, bye I love you."
She hung up without saying anything, I walked in and he sighed.
"Do you need anything, Virginia"
"No, but do you want to go out for some coffee?"
"I'd love that,"
He smiled like it was the first time he even smiled.
about 24 minutes later.
We were talking about random things that came to mind while drinking coffee and eating bagels.
"So, your working on this new thing? What's it about?"
"It's a sex study, I'll get to watch people have sex and collect data from the wires that'll be on them."
"So.. it's all about the science, right?"
"I mean yeah, but I'll need someone by my side."
Does he mean it? Am I going to be his partner! Atleast I hope it is.
"Your going to be my secretary."
WHAT?! SECRETARY? THAT'S IT?! Calm down Virginia.. you'll be fine, just stay.. calm.
"Oh that's uh great. Thanks,"
"This doesn't upset you, does it?"
"Not at all, why would it??"
Oh trust me. I was angry, very very angry that I couldn't be something higher than a secretary.
