"I'm one of the Cavaliers, aren't I? A handsome cavalier at that," he said and grinned.
I snorted. "Wow. How vain." We laughed. And the silence was, once again, between us.
He decided to break the ice. "So... Is this goodbye now? Like, 'bye bye, my friend, will we ever see each other again'?"
I shook my head, smiling. And shrugged. "Maybe so, maybe not. I don't know. Who knows, maybe we'll meet each other again?"
"Aaahh..." He ran a hand thrpugh his blonde hair. He walked to the door and sat, his back against it. "That's too bad. Just when we got to make up, this happens... Our situation is just so...messed up," he said and put his hands on his face. I walked over to where he was and patted his shoulder.
"Oh come on now, Jules. Don't go moping around in front of me! That's so not like you, you know. I'll visit this place once in a while."
He stood up and said a little too loudly, "Don't!" I raised an eyebrow. He flushed and looked away. "I mean, yes. Text me before you come here. It would certainly call for a celebration."
I rolled my eyes. I was about to leave when I remembered something. I showed him the key and cocked my head on one side. "This is my mom's key, right?"
He nodded. "Yup."
I raised my eyebrow at what he said. "He made you give me this? So much for telling me to take any car." I rolled my eyes as I replayed the scene in my mind. I turned to him. "Bye, Julius. See you... Next week, maybe?" I said and turned around.
"Natalie, remember this; not everything that's happening right now is what it looks like to you," he said behind my back.
I paused for a while, pondering over what he just said. Finally, I turned around. "Hey Julius, what do you mean by..."
Now what? He just disappeared! Like, instantly. "Well never mind. I'll find out sooner or later, anyway." Having vampire friends really sucks. They disappear while you're talking to them. Great.
I walked, passing by the sculptures that were symbols of good deeds. There were four written: righteousness, peace, order, and justice. I heard that there was supposedly another one. But its sculpture is not there, so I couldn't possibly know what it is.
"So this place isn't as bad as I thought..." They even prioritize justice. Too bad they can't put it into action because some people just won't tell them the truth. Like, their king.
I sighed and looked around. "Maybe I won't be able to see the insides of this mansion anymore, mom. I guess.. I guess I'll still miss this place in spite of everything."
Wait, did I just say that? I didn't really expect it to come from me. Well, this is where I grew up, after all. I've been living here all my life. Now that I look outside, the place looks rather haunted now. Especially the garden. Even though it looked so much like a paradise 9 years ago. I mean, before my mother died.
I opened the gate and found the car meters away from where I stood. I walked over to it and opened the door. I unlocked the steering wheel and turned the engine on. I took one last look at the place and smiled sadly.
Bye bye, Lithieum household.
I drove away from the place as the outer gates opened to let me through. I felt something inside me twitch. And realizing what it was, I bit my lip.
Looks like it would take a while before I get used to this loneliness.
Third person's POV
Hebreus watched as his daughter made her leave. He was standing in his room, in front of the window, taking one last look at his beloved daughter who hates him so much.
His daughter whom he had deceived and refused to tell the truth, just so when the crisis they have feared all those years comes this close, his daughter would escape safely and her tears would not have to be shed when that crisis befalls the clan.
He must admit, he got hurt because of what his daughter said, but he must not let his emotions get the better of him. His daughter cannot be blamed, too. It was not her fault.
"King Hebreus, will this be all right? We all know that she won't have a home to come back to next week..." Julius stated hesitantly.
Hebreus walked over to his throne and sat. "It's for the best, Julius, it's for the best," he said. "This clan doesn't have any escape anymore. We could at least have a survivor..."
Julius looked away. "But what if the mages and the Varvakeions get to her? They'll kill her, wouldn't they?" He said, worrying about what would happen to Natalie after letting her go all by herself. "She might even die before it happens."
"You gave her the key, didn't you?"
Julius nodded. "Yes, I did, sire, what about it?"
The King smiled and looked outside. "Then you don't have anything to worry about. As long as she has that key, she will forever be in her mother's protection and guidance. Plus, that daughter of mine is strong. I believe she would get much more stronger and who knows? She might even surpass me one day."
Julius looked up to see the stars. Now that you mention it.. That girl is really strong. He smiled and thought: I wish you the best of luck, Natalie. I know you'll pull through on your own.

A/N: At last! I've been dying to update for so long, but school work just kept on piling up. -_- projects here and there, it's so tiring. But hey, the Pope is here!
Yay! And other than that, we have a break from school! Yay again! :P
BTW, thanks for reading. Hope it's worth the wait, though I'm not really satisfied.
Vote if you liked it, and comment if you have anything to say. I know I'm not a good writer, and I'm open for complaints. :))
Oh and guys? Sorry for the pic of this chapter, it's black and white.. T__T I just can't get the shades of the colors right, so I decided it'll be better if it was in that state. I'm very sorry.
