In the time following the war between the Azur Lane and the Crimson Axis, the nations of the world decided that they would keep the fleet girls as their primary guardians of the sea. When the war ended alliances were redrawn into new unions to fight the still existent Siren threat. As aviation and ground force evolved, it was decided that the fleet girls should be outfitted with modern equipment, though many kept use of their former weapons that were made to suit them during the past war.
"How are things looking up there in the sky, Viper Three?" called the captain of the merchant vessel into his radio.
"Empty, looks like Churchill's flat on a weekend," joked the C-130's TV Operator.
"Screw you," said the pilot as he picked up his radio. "We're all clear Delta. Keeping an eye out for hostiles on the water."
"10-4, Viper." replied the captain.
"The hell are we moving anyway that we need so much firepower?" asked one of the men in the bridge with the captain.
"Wisdom cubes, buddy, thousands of them," replied the C-130 pilot.
"Uncle Sam must be hurtin' for his shipfu," joked one of the gunners. "After all who else could put up the dough for all these."
"Well, whatever the reason, the main thing is keepin' these outta the hands of those damn Sirens," responded the captain.
"That's right, we cannot let the Sirens get their hands on these cubes, or God forbid..." began Tennessee. An alarm sounded at the C-130's radar control system.
"Unidentified vessel to the Southeast. We're catching it on radar, but no AIS module seems to be on board," said the radar control officer.
"Double check that," ordered the copilot. "Might be a civilian vessel, but we need confirmation."
"On it," replied the Electronic Warfare Officer.
"I have eyes on thermal imaging," said the IR operator.
"Keep tracking, do not engage," stated the copilot.
"Getting a weak signal from the AIS but it's sending a faulty reading. No vessel info." stated the Electronic Warfare Officer.
"See if you can ID the signal and figure out the manufacturer," said the copilot. "Control, can you get us navigation info for any and all..."
"Gramment," said the Electronic Warfare Officer.
"Gramment AIS modules in the area, forwarding our co-ordinates," finished the copilot.
"Confirm, Viper Three. We have departure records for a small fishing vessel that left the Philippines using a Gramment AIS module. The vessel name is Provano. Two souls seen on board at departure. Satellite tracking puts it in your AO," responded control.
"Thanks command," said the co-pilot before turning to the ECO. "patch me in." The ECO set up a radio signal for the Provano before giving the go ahead to the copilot. "This is the Azur Lane to Provano. You are in restricted waters, turn around now or you will be fired upon."
The line was quiet for a moment before someone got on the radio. "Loud and clear Azur Lane, we're moving," said the voice before adding quietly, "shit."
The vessel started it's engine and pulled away quickly, leaving the fleet alone once more in the waters. "That was easy," said Hammann. "What cowards."
"It's not over yet. Keep your eyes open for enemy vessels," commented Enterprise.
"What makes you so sure?" asked Javelin.
