Courtney's POV
Ah, yes. Another day of work complete. Time to go home and treat myself to rest and relaxation! Ooh, and maybe some of that pasta from the new Italian restaurant down the street...
I walked out of the Smosh office, my head held high as I thought of the perfect weekend I had planned. It basically consisted of lounging on the couch, binge watching Netflix, and eating as much food as I possibly could.
Yup, that's as good as it gets!
"Hey Court!"
I turned to see who had called my name, a smile spreading across my face as I realized that it was Shayne, one of my co-workers.
Now I wasn't particularly close with him, but he was a nice guy and I'd say that we were decently good friends.
"Hi Shayne, what's up?" I asked as he began walking with me to the parking garage that was currently housing our cars.
"Nothing much, I was just leaving and I thought that'd I'd come talk to you." He answered, a kind smile on his face.
I could tell that the stress of the work week was finally lifting off of him. It seemed that he always became more talkative and open when he didn't have deadlines chasing him.
I looked over at my friend, "Thanks, I tend to feel pretty lonely walking back to the garage all alone."
"Oh, it's no problem." He said, before his eyes widened as if he had just had an incredible idea, "Hey, would you like me to like walk to your car with you after work each day?"
To say that I was surprised would be quite the understatement. In fact, I was shocked. It seemed that he genuinely cared about my emotions.
It's not like people don't care about me or anything, but no one other than my family or close friends every seemed to act like this.
"Well, only if you want to. I don't want to be a bother or anything." I replied, hoping that he wouldn't take back his offer.
He smiled, "It's no problem, I rather enjoy talking with you and I actually get pretty lonely too, so it's like a win-win situation!"
"Wow, thanks, I really appreciate it!" I answered, my smile growing impossibly bigger.
We had finally reached my car, to my surprise. Talking with Shayne had made the usually long and boring walk fly by in a flash.
"Of course," he responded, before walking away towards his car, "See you on Monday, Court!"
"Bye, Shayne," I called after him as I got into my car.
Man, I did not expect Shayne to be that nice. Huh, and to think we aren't even that close yet. What's it going to be like if we become best friends?
