The next day i woke up and packed my bags. I wasn't sure what to expect when i got there. But i guess there wouldn't be much of a difference if i stayed home. I didn't really have many friends, except my neighboor Mark. It's a really complicated story. And not important either. I was going to start fresh this summer, i thought to myself. When i was finished packing i sat on my bed and sighed. My mom walked in and sat down next to me. "Honey, i know things have been hard lately, but things will get better, i promise." she said softly.

"I know it will, mom. I've been thinking about this and it might actually be good, start out new, ya know?" she nodded, and kissed my forehead. She left and closed the door behind her. I flopped down on my bed and closed my eyes, trying not to think about the past 10 months. The next  morning I went to next door to say goodbye to Mark. He opened the door before i could knock.

"I can't believe your leaving for the whole summer ." he said reaching out to hug me. I huged him as tight as i could.

"I know, i'm really starting to freak out. But i'll be starting off new, something i can't do here." I said once he let go.

"Yeah, I guess your right but things will get better here, too." I shoke my head. Mark and I always had this argument. It's been a whole school year since....... " the incident" and nothings changed. I don't even bother to fight back anymore, he still has faith in people.

" Well promise you'll visit, ok? i don't know whats going to happen down there, I might need a friend." he promised and we hugged one last time, then i got in my car. I'd said goodbye to my mom the night before, because her flight to the Bahamas was early in the morning. I turned on the radio and concentrated on the road, not how nervous I was about where i was going. It was about a hour later when i pulled into the driveway of a house right by the beach. It was pretty, with a big lawn and big pink and white flowers. I started up the stone pathway towards the house. I toke a deep breath and knocked on the door. I waited a couple of seconds, then the door opened. there stood a boy who looked about my age. " uhhh...... I think i might have the wrong house.... " I said looking at my phone to double check the adress my mom texted me. I apoligized and started to turn around.

"Wait! Nicole?" the boy asked.

"Yeah...." I said confused. he smiled and opened the door wider.

" You've got the right house. I'm Josh. My moms friends with your mom? we used to play together when we were 5. Yeah you didn't know about me did you?" he said. I smiled shyly and shook my head. He laughed and motioned for me to come inside. " My moms at work right now. She won't be home for a couple of hours." he said, leading me to the living room. I didn't know what to say to him. I was pissed that my mom didn't tell me about him. "I guess we should get your bags out of your car." he said, obviously feeling akward towards my silence. I nodded and we walked out the door I poped open the trunk and grabed one of my bags, he grabed the other one. I was about to close the trunk when I heard a door open and close. We both turned toward the sound. Josh had a small smile on his face as a petite blonde girl came walking towards us.

"Hi! you must be Nicole! I'm Amy. I live next door. I'm looking forward to getting to know you!" she said brightly, sticking her hand out. I shoke it. I smiled, and tried not to laugh at her over enthusiasum. I smiled sweetly. " Hey josh. Hows it going?"

"same old, same old." she nodded.

"Josh and I grew up together." she laughed. "his house is like a second home to me. Well it was, I don't go over there much anymore." I smiled awkwardly.  "Hey! everyones hanging around at the beach tonight. You should come!" Amy said. I started to panic. I was so not ready to actually talk to people again.
