I turned on the TV to cure my boredom. It was 11:59 now, and all I can think of is the nightmares and what Oliver said. Suddenly the power went out. My heart began to pound. I was so scared. All I could hear was the storm outside and the rest was complete silence. I was surrounded by darkness. I couldn't see a thing. About a minute later the power went back on. It was only 12:01, but it felt like it was longer. In the end, I ended up pulling an all-nighter.
The strange thing was that I wasn't tired at all I was too terrified to sleep. Today is now Thursday. I just turn on the news since it began at this time. It was 5am right now. At least today I got my neck cast removed, but I'll still have to be careful. While I was watching the news one specific story caught my eye. It turns out that there was a car crash yesterday at 7:30 am. I continued to watch the news as my expression slowly changed from curiosity to fear.
The victim who died in the car crash name was Lilliana Marlyn. That's the exact same name as my daily nurse. They explained that the cause of the crash was that the car lost control. Why does this sound familiar somehow?
Just then Kane walked into the room. " I will be your new daily nurse, now let's give you that medication," said Kane with a smile. I was still in shock. I was too focused on watching the news that I hadn't noticed how fast the time flew by, it was already 8am. " You're getting your neck cast removed around 9:30 today," said Kane. I just stayed quiet. She finished with my medication and said that she'll see me later as she goes to check on her second patient. She then leaves the room, forgetting to close the door behind her. I watch as she enters the room right across from mine and close the door behind her. I look back at the TV and turn it off. I want to try and get some sleep since I couldn't rest at all last night.
Everything was silent until I heard someone panicking in the room across from mine. I then heard the emergency button to call for all the doctors ring. I saw people start to rush down to the room, there were all doctors and nurses. When they opened the door I caught a glimpse of Kane panicking and a patient whose skin was so pale and his eyes open wide. I began to get curious about the situation so I tried to listen in. All I heard were muffled voices until I heard one doctor say to do CPR on the patient. Everyone was all talking at once so I could barely make out what they were saying. Then all their voices died down. I then heard someone say,"We lost him." I heard them questioning each other how long has he been out. And then they all started talking all at once again. I then saw Kane walk out of the room and then she saw me. " I'm so sorry I'll close your door," said Kane. " Wait! What happened to that patient?" I said. Kane remained silent. " Please?" I asked. " This is my second day working here so please don't tell anyone I told you this," said Kane. " Alright, I promise," I said. She sat down right next to me with sadness in her eyes. " It seems like we've lost a patient, I was walking into his room and then he just simply wouldn't wake up," Kane said," I then checked his heart beat and it showed that he was deceased. I didn't know what to do, so I called all of the doctors and they came and tried to see if they could revive him. When they couldn't do that they questioned me how long has he been out, but I didn't know I had just arrived, and so now their examining him to see what was the cause of his death and how long he was exactly dead." I feel bad for Kane. She's just new here and she's already seeing patients who just died, but then again she still signed up for this. Still, I can't help but sympathize for her. " I'm sorry you had to witness that" I said. " Don't feel bad for me, it's part of what being a nurse is after all," Kane said forcing a smile," I'll be going now." She then left and remembered to close the door behind her.
Another patient died? This has to be more than a coincidence. I started getting scared, frightened that I might one day be next to die. Is this hospital really haunted? I started overthinking until a doctor came into my room. " Hello, I'm Dr. Jay, I'm here to remove your neck cast," said Dr. Jay. "Alright," I said. He began to remove the cast from my neck. My neck feels lighter now, probably because the weight of the cast is gone now. " As I'm sure your nurse has told you, you still have to be careful from moving your neck around, be sure to rest a lot, I'll be going now," said Dr. Jay. " Alright, thank you!" I said. " No problem, I'm just doing my job," said Dr. Jay. He then left the room. I carefully tried to help myself onto my wheelchair because I was too excited to see if I can do this on my own. After a little struggle, I did it! My neck began to hurt a lot though. I have to be careful not to sprain my neck. I then helped myself to breakfast. I went into the elevator down to the first floor where the cafeteria is. I take the elevator since my room is on the fourth floor.
