Tessa had sat through the stories a million time, and to her it was always the same. Big long trip. Find 'the one'. Fall in love. Then marriage and kids.
The end was always the same as well. Her aunt or mother or whoever was telling her this time would lean over, take her hands and say, "and one day you'll find your true love as well"
Tessa did instinctively what she learned she was supposed to do. She looked down at her hands and smiled at the red thread that was supposed to be there.
To her she just smiled at her bare hands. She faked having a thread so not to cause a argument between her and anyone who apparently had one. But to some her lack of threads was just a part of her that they got used to. Or at least got used to her pointing out she didn't have one.
But to Tessa, if she found her true love they would have to accept her as she was. No strings attached.
