"Maybe we're supposed to be each other's true love" he said.
I tried to hold back my laugh but failed, "Sorry, it's just that I have no interest in having a true love"
James shrunk in his seat again.
"Any girl would be lucky to be with you. But that girl isn't me" I tried to explain.
"You're in love with Simon" he assumed.
"Simon's like a brother to me. Nothing more" I said quickly.
"Then why don't you feel the same about me" he said slow and clear trying to hide the hurt from his voice, but failed.
"I don't know" I said softly, " I don't feel the need to fall in love. Or even date anyone for that matter. It just doesn't feel right for me"
He said nothing and pulled the car back onto the road.
I pulled my knees up to my chest and rested my head on them as the country side sped by me.
