Sighing at her phone she continued to work during her ride home. The music in her AirPods came to a halt as she saw an international number come across her phone.

Sucking her teeth she knew could be only one person quickly turning off that phone she pulled out her private work phone getting back to important matters.

"Fuck" her phone rang again from the same number sighing heavily she pressed the green bottom "Hello" "OLUWADAMILOLA!" Lowering the call's volume she rolled her eyes.
"Are you there? HELLO?!"
"Yes Mom I am here", "Can you not greet?" "Good Evening Ma" Cleaning the unders of her nails Damz let her mother yell and shout all she wanted.

That's their relationship rarely were there words from Damz's side, "Wow what would your father think of this?" pulling the final string Damz was ready to hang up "What are you calling for?".

"Oh so now you have mouth, don't let me come and drag you from that place"
"Okay Ma" if heavily sighing was a job she'd be set for a promotion letting the wind out her mouth she dozed out.

Letting her mother yell and shout she had arrived home placing herself on mute and the call on speaker she thanked all her staff letting them disperse throughout the house. Most went home while half of her security went to their quarters and the other had night duty, "Are you listening?" unmuting the phone Damz couldn't remember anything that came from her mother's mouth "Um can you please repeat the last part Ma? the phone was cutting"

"I said when will you be coming home?" silently cussing to herself Damz looked for a lie to spew "I don't know, I've been super busy so I haven't bought a ticket".

"Busy doing what?"
"Work-"
"I hope you've started looking for a partner?" "Partner?" "Oko as in husband" Her eyebrows completely frowned at the thought of someone intruding into her space.

"No" "Why?!" looking at the phone on the counter she shrugged her shoulders, Damz being her mother's only child put intense strain on her life.
In her head she told herself her mother only wanted the best for her, she was already successfully holding plenty of degrees and certificates but to her mother marriage was a different kind of success while Damz viewed it as bondage.

In the reality of her life, her mother had no clue that a man was impractical. What would he have to offer her? Company? Does she even have time to indulge in his company?
"Men are too much and I'm too busy"
"So you want to die alone abi?"
"Yes actually"
"G-g-get off my phone"

"Okay" gladly pressing the red button she smiled grabbed her business phone and shut them both off.

Night passed and early morning came, strolling into the office at eight am sharp her hips swayed from side to side "Good Morning" Her voice echoed through the cubicle that was filled with her closest employees.
