Anhedonia

Just a few days ago he felt,
His days were all so bright
And now suddenly his insides,
Felt like dark as night.

He liked to enjoy a movie,
Or just gossip with friends,
And now he feels it's all bogus,
Whatever were his trends.

His mood was down in slumps,
His energy level was low,
All he felt was the sea of thoughts,
And he was drowning below.

And then he tried to find the reason,
To this lack of pleasure,
In things that were once,
His objects of interest and leisure.

The doctor confirmed it has a name,
And gave him instructions to follow,
'Anhedonia' they called it,
This nameless feeling of hollow.

Anhedonia: The inability to feel pleasure in previously pleasurable activities. It is a necessary sign of anxiety, stress or depression but not necessarily occurring because of mental health issues. It can be due to boredom or lack of creative options or even a job that is not rewarding enough.
