Kakashi scowled as more shinobi teleported to the location. Now that the Yellow Flash was here, more Iwa nin would be showing up. He stopped for a moment, contemplating, before deciding to use that using the chidori would require too much chakra. He instead pulled out the tanto blade he had inherited from his father and shoved his way through the crowd. He had eventually reached the start of the bridge, but more people had teleported there. Izuna was swiftly taking care of the ones that teleported there, using attacks that covered more distance, such as the signature Uchiha fireball.
Rin had spotted her teammate having trouble, and instead of completely fixing the bombs like instructed, she ran over, gripping a kunai. She ran beside Izuna, healing the wounds on his body.
He grinned in thanks before running back into battle. Rin followed him, defending his back and healing him when needed.
By this point, Kakashi had finished setting up the bombs and looked over to see if his team was done. He scowled when he saw them. "What is Rin doing?"
"Hm?" Minato looked over and saw nothing out of the ordinary. "...Helping Obito?" He asked, confused.
"No, she was supposed to fix the bombs," he muttered. "I'll just do it."
"Hey," Minato put a hand on his student's shoulder. "They'll take care of it. If you're going to help, go help Obito defeat those ninjas. There seems to be a lot more coming..."
"But the mission-!" he started.
Minato sighed, understanding why Kakashi thought this way. He tried to respond gently. "Kakashi...help your teammates. The mission comes after."
"No, that's not-"
"Kakashi." Minato warned.
Kakashi glared for a few moments before teleporting away. Minato sighed. This teaching thing was a lot harder than he thought. Thankfully, most of the Iwa nin seemed to be heading away from his team and heading towards him. Minato stretching his legs before pulling out his weapon of choice and running towards them.
"Kakashi!" Rin grinned, temporarily forgetting her grudge against him. "Thank god. Help Obito, I'll fix the bombs."
Kakashi grunted in response. Rin handed him a solider pill as she ran by, sensing the exhaustion in the way he stood. Izuna threw a sideways glance at him and waited until he was ready. Kakashi gulped down the soldier pill, making a face at the bitter taste before pulling putting away his father's tanto blade and pulling out the one's Izuna had gifted to him earlier. Izuna grinned to himself when he saw that, and pulled out his own katana.
The two leapt into battle as Rin set up bombs around the perimeter. When she nodded, confirming that she was done, the three teleported off the bridge and besides Minato.
"Rin, you may do the honors~" Izuna replied, both exhaustion and pride leaking from his body. Blood stained his shirt as he cleaned off his katana.
"Thank you!" Rin grinned, taking a bow before holding two fingers in front of her face and concentrating. The four watched as a single bomb on the other end of the bridge exploded.
They watched in awe as the bridge went up in flames. Izuna grinned as the bright red from the fire lit up his already red Sharingan eyes. The bridge exploded, sending huge chunks of rocks flying their way.
The team dropped to the floor as Rin covered her ears; the sound was almost deafening. She smiled nervously, scratching her cheek as she turned to Minato. "W-we may have put more bombs than necessary..."
Minato blinked for a minute before bursting into a grin and ruffling her hair. "It's alright. Good job guys!"
Izuna smirked, a sense of accomplishment settling over him. He had only met his team a week ago, yet they had managed to complete something of this magnitude. Konoha had came a far way since when he was alive.
Kakashi smiled slightly too, before standing up. Minato took care of the rest of the ninja before they starting heading back home. The sun began to set, the orange light illuminating their happy faces even more.
"Since the sun's setting..." Rin started. They turned to her as she spoke. "We should probably camp out in a cave, right?"
The three turned to Minato, who thought for a moment before deciding that was the best course of action. "I'll alert Hokage-sama, you guys get some rest."
"Hai." The three answered before entering the nearest cave. Rin took out her bag and split the food among the team and left a small portion for Minato. Kakashi pulled in some firewood, and, with a simple hand sign, a fire started in their little hideout.
They sat in silence for a bit, Rin quieter than usual and Kakashi having a larger scowl on his face. Izuna sat quietly, not really wanting to be involved between whatever happened between the two.
"Bad news," Minato sighed as he walked into the cave. "Or, maybe good. Hokage-sama said that we have to head to the front lines tomorrow."
"The front lines?" Rin gasped. "But, we're only-"
"Yes, that's what I told him," He sat down and picked up his food. "But we're short on soldiers and since we just destroyed their source of supplies, they would be at their weakest."
Izuna nodded, eating his bread in silence. "When're we leaving?"
"Umm, probably early tomorrow. When the sun rises? So, get some sleep."
"Okay." Rin stood up abruptly after finishing her food. She grabbed her stuff and walked to the exit of the cave, brushing past Kakashi who grimaced before calling her name. "Rin-"
"Save it, Kakashi," She replied coldly, causing Kakashi to flinch slightly. "I don't want to speak to you."
His face turned into one of confusion and then anger. "I didn't do anyting wrong, I told you to focus-"
"Obito was in danger!" She cried, spinning around and shoving a finger into his chest. "But you," She scowled and Kakashi took a step back. "You told me to focus on the mission. I don't want to talk, no, I don't want to look at someone who'll choose fame over their friendship." She growled before stomping away.
Kakashi stood there for a moment before grabbing his food and leaving the cave as well, going in the opposite direction that Rin went.
Izuna and Minato sat in the cave, blinking in confusion. They turned to each other before turning back to the exit of the cave.
"I-" Izuna started.
"You-" Minato started at the same time.
"I don't-"
"What just-"
They paused. "Um, Obito, you don't happen to know anything about this, right?"
"No? They seemed a bit cold, but I thought it was just because of nerves."
"Well, we can't just have them wandering out there," Minato sighed. "I'll go get Rin, and you can get Kakashi."
"Me?!" He yelped. Izuna wasn't the best 'people-person', but he at least knew that Kakashi did not like him. "Why me?! Aren't you his sensei? Shouldn't you-"
"...He doesn't hate you as much as you think he does, Obito. We'll meet back here soon." And with that, he disappeared.
Izuna was left alone in the cave, a half eaten loaf of bread in one hand. "...I really should've stayed dead." Izuna sighed and rested his chin on his hand. He got up with a sigh and followed Kakashi's footsteps to find his teammate.
