Hawks quickly flew to you and took a hold of your waist while you were facing him. You wrapped your hands around his neck and held on tightly.
You had to bury your face into Hawks neck so you wouldn't have to look at how high the two of you were.
Even though you usually flew with confidence it was only because you knew your quirk and you knew you wouldn't fall, but relying on someone else so you wouldn't die was way different, and it terrified you.
Being this close to the hero you couldn't stop thinking about how good he smelled.
He used a cologne that smelled so soft and sweet, it made you feel easier, like your fears were being replaced by thoughts of comfort.
You swear you could also smell fried chicken but you could have just imagined it.
While you were thinking that, Hawks could feel how warm your body was against him, you did a good job keeping the water off of you until now.
Your quirk was an extension of your body that you had to use energy for to keep up. Having to constantly dry yourself was draining and you could have just fallen asleep in Hawks arms even if you just woke up from a nap.
It didn't take long to finally arrive to Hawks own apartment, it was the top floor of a very tall building.
Hawks landed on the huge balcony that had it's own swimming pool on it.
"We are here kid", Hawks said when you didn't let go of him, you lifted your head up from his neck.
"You aren't that much older!" You said being offended by the nickname he had used on you. You unwrapped your arms from around Hawks neck and turned to look towards the entrance to his home.
"And you are sure I'm safe here now?" You confirmed.
"Yes, at least I get to keep an eye on you more" Hawks said as he started walking towards the door.
"I can handle myself.. Didn't Dabi have a fire quirk too?" You asked while walking behind Hawks, you weren't sure if you had heard that from the news or somewhere else.
"He does.." Hawks said quietly.
"See, he is an awful match up with you! I burned your feathers so easily" You smirked at the hero when he turned around to say something, but didn't.
Hawks might have been faster than you and you may be weak to water, but you could easily burn him if you two had a serious fight.
You continued to follow Hawks inside the apartment, the door from the balcony lead into the living room area. It was decorated with a same style as the other apartment but this one looked lived in, the layout was different too.
"You can have the bedroom, I don't have a quest room here" Hawks said as he started walking towards what you assumed to be the bedroom.
"No it's fine! I can sleep on the couch. This is your home after all.." You felt awkward realizing fully that this in fact was Hawks home, the place he spent time in when he wasn't working.
You felt your face get red so you turned your gaze to the ground to avoid the hero's eyes.
"I still have to do hero work, makes more sense for you to have the bedroom" Hawks said trying to convince you it was fine.
"That means you need better rest! You can't sleep well on the couch" You tried to argue back.
"So you admit the couch sucks! That's why you will sleep in the bedroom" Hawks said smirking as he opened the bedroom door and placed your bag in there.
"No it's your room, I'll sleep on the couch" You said and planted yourself on one of the couches, it felt really comfortable so you wouldn't mind sleeping on it.
"It's now your room so don't fight me on it", Hawks said as he walked towards the couch.
"You'll have to force me to sleep there" you said without realizing Hawks would take that as a challenge. You saw his face turn into an even deeper smirk.
"What are you doing?" You asked as Hawks got closer but he was quiet, he got right in front of you before quickly picking you up bridal style from the couch.
"PUT ME DOWN!" You yelled at him, but the over sized chicken didn't listen.
Hawks just laughed as he carried you to the bedroom, you tried to free yourself from his hold but the hero was too strong.
He walked next to his bed and threw you on it so you landed on your back. The bed was so soft it felt like a cloud, if clouds were made of cotton like you thought as a kid.
You quickly got up on your knees and tried to escape the bed but Hawks was blocking your way.
You stood up on the bed and jumped on the hero since he wasn't moving.
You wrapped your arms around his neck so you wouldn't fall to the floor or back to the bed.
Hawks had his hands around your waist and he tried throwing you back on to the bed but you held on to him, making him fall on the bed with you.
Hawks was now towering over you with his hands on both sides of your head and his body was pressed against yours by gravity.
"You could at least by me dinner first" Hawks said with a smirk trying to make light of the situation, and you felt like you could slap him right then if you weren't frozen in place by being this close to the hero.
You knew your face must have been as red as a tomato at that point.
Hawks quickly got off from you to not make the awkward moment last any longer than it had, he held a hand out to help you up but you were still stunned.
"You okay there? Did you finally accept to sleep on the bed?" Hawks asked with a laugh, he clearly found the whole situation funny.
"Just give me a second.." You muttered before getting up from the bed without taking Hawks hand, you avoided eye contact with the bird at all cost.
Now you actually had time to look around the room, the bed you two had been fighting on was huge, most likely so Hawks wings would fit on the bed.
The bed took up most of the space but there were nightstands on both sides of the bed with various items placed on them. There were few magazines with Hawks on the front cover.
On one of the walls there was an open door to a walk in closet, you could see some stylish clothes in there.
There was a huge red rug on the floor that was mostly hidden by the bed, the floor was made of light wood that looked really modern.
This made you realize how different your lives were, maybe if you were never kicked out of UA you could have also had this at some point.
You could have been the pro hero your mom and dad always wanted for you to be. Not some restaurant worker who works as a vigilante during the night.. But you weren't even that anymore.
"Are you okay?" Hawks asked as he walked closer to you.
"Huh? I'm fine." You had been totally immersed in your thoughts and had forgotten Hawks was in the same room still.
"Then why are you crying? I'm sorry about what just happened" Hawks said with an awkward laugh as he wiped away a fallen tear from your cheek.
You hadn't even notice you were crying.
"Oh.. It's not you.. I was just thinking about.." you fell silent, did your parents abandoning you still hurt this much? Did your best friend telling to the teachers about you still hurt this much?
You wiped your face off tears but the more you wiped the more they seemed to fall.
"Fuck! I'm sorry.." You said and tried to turn around but Hawks stopped you. He wrapped his arms around you and held you in a hug.
"You don't have to tell me, just know I'm here for you", Hawks whispered softly his face pressed against your hair. You hugged the hero back and he used his wings to create a comforting cover around the two of you.
He really knew how to be a hero when it mattered.
