Interview with AMarsonCambridge:

1. Can you briefly introduce your story and tell us why you think it won first place? Why do you want readers to consider reading it?

Hello! Our collective name is Alexandra Marson-Cambridge and, surprise, we're actually two writers! We go by the aliases "Smudge" and "Pooch" respectively. Our book, "The Blood of the Covenant", is a story about two boys, Micah and Matthew, trying to find their place in a world divided by good and evil. After being raised by mercenaries at the behest of a villain, they were separated by a horrible, traumatic event that left them both alone and each convinced that the other is dead.

I think The Blood of the Covenant won first place because it's composed of a well-structured plot, characters whose development we put our hearts and souls into, and a superhero setting in an era where superhero settings are rather popular. Also, It's unique in a sense that it's not strictly about heroes versus villains. It's about two kids who are trying to find their place in the world and figure out just where the line between good and evil lies if there is one at all.

The Blood of the Covenant is a book that can be enjoyed by many people. You should consider reading it if you enjoy superheroes and supervillains if you like action with hints of science fiction, and stories about high school, found family, and self-discovery. And, of course, there will be some budding romances in the future.

2. Who/What is your source of inspiration when it comes to writing?

Pooch: A huge source of inspiration from this story came from the anime "My Hero Academia". The Blood of the Covenant was actually a little AU text-based Role-Play a group of friends did with us, and over time, as the plot developed, I guess Smudge and I just sat down and said "Hey, this could be an actual story". So we changed A WHOLE LOT and polished it up. It originally wasn't supposed to focus so specifically on Micah and Matthew, until one day we were joking about Micah and Matthew loving one another like brothers, and we decided to make them the focus of the book. We really liked the idea of found family, which is exactly where we got our title.

Smudge: Pooch covered the "What" specifics about The Blood of the Covenant's origins, but I'll cover the "Who"s. I think that reading as much as we do inspired us to try to write our own book. As far as people go, I know major idols of mine are Brandon Sanderson, Christopher Paolini, Rick Riordan, as well as my various English and Creative Writing teachers throughout the years. If it weren't for our teachers, encouraging us and, of course, teaching us, we definitely wouldn't be where we are today.
