~~~☀️🌕~~~
"H-hey, wait up!" a young girl, no older than thirteen yelled,panting.
"This is a race, Luna. i'm not supposed to wait up! " an even younger boy, probably twelve yelled back, as he ran past her. The girl groaned.
"Ugh,stickler."
The two kids continued to run through Shade Forest, taking a few breaks in between.
~~~☀️🌕~~~
"The sun's going to set soon. We should probably stop skipping school now."
the girl said, staring at the sky.
"Now who's a stickler?"
the boy asked back.
"Orion, i'm serious.If we don't get back,Mrs.Mendez and our parents will be furious!" the young girl said, with a stern look on her face.
"Whatever, it's not like this is the first time we've done this."
the boy said drowzily.
The girl sighed and rolled her eyes,but sat closer to the boy.
"We'll lose our heads for this, you know that, right?"
She whispered,turning to look at the sky once more.
The boy just shrugged.
They scooted closer to eachother, almost in a cuddling-like manner.
The sun's lowering made the air slightly colder, and the two kids eventually drifted asleep.
~~~☀️🌕~~~
After what felt like hours, the girl felt an aggressive-almost painful tug at her arm.
She slowly opened her eyes, only to see a creepy man in a Darkrai-looking cloak dragging her with one hand, and covering her mouth with the other.
She couldn't help the tears starting to stream down her face as she began screaming for muffled 'help's and struggling like there was no tomorrow.
She looked around, and saw her friend panicking and struggling alongside her. Their eyes met, and his tenseness faded by just a fraction seeing her not dead yet.
"Do we need the boy too?" a menacing female voice asked.
"No, just the girl. You can drug the boy and leave him in the forest."
a familiar, yet scary male voice said back.
More tears came flowing down the two kids' faces, as the Darkrai-looking men injected a red fluid into the little boy,and threw him next to a tree.
"O-O-ORION!!"
the little girl cried out, struggling, panicking, sobbing, the girl was dragged by her legs as she tried to escape.
a few simple words made her lose every sliver of hope she had left.
"No use now, kid. Your little friend can't hear you."
~~~☀️🌕~~~
"Citizens of Torren!"
A voice boomed,
as 'Hm?'s and 'Oh?'s filled the area,people began to crowd
around the town square,
as a tall, blonde man settled himself upon the stage.
"I'd like to thank you all for coming.
We live in dark times,
my friends."
The blonde man's face went stoic,as the citizens' mood became somber.
"A Great Loss has recently befallen us all.
Our Augur,Adam Eclipsor,
the man we all revered, respected and loved was a great man.
Admired by all and outmatched by none,he was undoubtedly the greatest protector of Torren."
murmurs of
"What does he mean by 'Was'?" and
"No,it can't be..."
were thrown around the stage, as the blonde man continued his speech.
"As many of you may know,
he left some time ago to hunt down one of the remaining cults that still taint this fair land."
As stoic as the man's face was, you could see a sliver of guilt and sadness in his eyes.
"We had hoped to have alteast heard of him at this point, but
fate, being the cruel mistress that she she is, saw to it that he did not return... "
The crowd's minds, hearts and moods were in shambles.
"Was the Augur dead?"
"Are we not safe anymore?"
"Is this the start of apocalypse?!?"
All these questions plagued the citizens' minds.
They truly were at their lowest.
It was the perfect time to strike.
"I'm certain you're all shocked by this new revelation,and rest assured,
you are not alone in this feeling.
And while we are all conditioned to fear the worst,i say that we break that chain and take a new path!
I believe that our Augur is still alive!"
A spark of hope was lit within the crowd,as the blonde man continued.
"Although the may be missing in action,there is no proof that he is gone from this world,and i,Jaern, shall be the one to prove it!
Until the Augur returns,
i,Jaern, will serve in his stead as the Second Augur Of Torren!"
Mixed emotions filled the people as Jaern declared himself the second Augur. It was true that he was a powerful trainer, and he was outmatched by very few.
However, there remained so much that the inhabitants of the region didn't know.
All things considered,
to know that there was someone willing to step up and be the region's protector was a comfort in and of itself.
"I know I may not be half the man the Augur is, but rest assured I aim to utilize all of my resources to find him and restore him back to his rightful place!"
roars of approval tore through the air.
"Until then,we will stand our ground against these treacherous cults,and bring hope to this region once more!
LONG LIVE THE TORREN REGION!"
"LONG LIVE THE TORREN REGION!"
