Let The Games Begin

This was it. This day would be the day of the Sports Festival.

Izuku and Shinsou were extremely excited, as well as nervous. They were both worried that only one of them would be trasfered to the hero course. Then they'd be lonely again. Or, perhaps neither of them would, and everything would just go to waste.

It probably would've helped if they had trained with someone who had actually experience, but they didn't have the time to get something like that set up. So, they would simply have to work with the skills they had accumulated during their sparring matches with each other.

The two of them walked into the stadium, side by side, wincing at the loud cheers of the crowd. They weren't as loud as the cheers for the hero course, but they most certainly were still there.

The sounds of cheering might've excited them when they were watching the Sports Festival on TV, but now? Now it was just adding to their nerves. They would be doing this live, in front of millions - if not billions - of people! It was sort of terrifying, and Izuku's limbs twitched rythmatically under the pressure. Shinsou wasn't faring much better, clearly stressed despite his efforts to hide it. Though, that stress was only really visible to Izuku, since they were friends.

The sunlight shone on their faces as soon as they were out of the tunnel, nearly blinding them. The cheers seemed to dim slightly when they walked out, but maybe that was just their imaginations?

The rest of the class were mumbling to themselves about how this whole thing was just too show off the hero course and how they'd rather be anywhere but here, and Izuku probably would've been agreeing if he wasn't trying to get into the heroics class with Shinsou.

The other courses came out at the same time, and as soon as the tunnels were cleared, Midnight spoke, "Now then, will the winner of the entrance exam step up to give the student speech?"

None other than Bakugou Katsuki stepped up onto the stage, and Izuku couldn't help but recoil at the sight of him. This wasn't going to go well...

Bakugou grabbed the mic by the handle, and said, "I pleadge.... that I'll win."

Boos rang out throughout the stadium and the student body, with people saying that he shouldn't be so egotistical and the like. Bakugou didn't seem to care, though. He never really seemed to care, honestly.

Bakugou left the stage, with a neutral but still somehow smug expression, and Midnight came back. "Well.. that was an... interesting speech, I suppose. Moving on! It's time for the first event!"

Izuku's wings tensed up in anticipation. Hopefully, it would be something he and Shinsou could handle well...

"For this year's first event, it's an obstacle course!!" Midnight anounced, causing him to cheer internally. With his quirk, he could easily fly over everyone else in the obstacle course without problem, and he should be able to carry Shinsou with him. He turned to Shinsou with a wide grin, hoping to tell him that they could do this without actually saying anything.

Shinsou seemed to get the message for the most part, though he seemed a bit confused.

Midnight continued on, explaining the basic rules of it - anything was fine as long as you stayed in bounds, don't badly injure or kill anyone, quirk usage is encouraged, and the first 44 people to complete the course won.

They were all hearded over to a large corridor - the start of the obstacle course, presumably - and while they walked Izuku told Shinsou his plan.

Shinsou nodded slowly, "I mean, as long as you think your wings are strong enough to carry the both of us, it sounds like a good plan. I mean, unless they added obstacles for people in the air, too, but we can deal with that when we get there. Probably."

"I mean, when I was watching the Sports Festival I never saw any obstacle courses with mid-air obstacles, so it should be fine." Izuku replied, though his tail was twitching with nerves. It seemed like a solid plan to him, but what if it didn't work right? What if his plan made them lose the first round?

He knew that the Sports Festival was designed to show off the heroics kids rather than have a fair sport between the student body. It was made with tests that favored flashy quirks, with elimination factors that would quickly cut out nearly all of the non-heroics kids in the first round alone.

There was a reason why only the first 44 out of the hundreds of first years could pass, and that reason was that there were 40 kids in the heroics classes, and UA knew that they'd all pass, and if they didn't, well, why were they there in the first place? The extra four were usually support course, which was helpful for the hero kids so they'd learn to work with support items on the job during the second round. Really, it was designed for the hero kids....

It made sense - UA was known as a hero school, so why not show off it's heroes? Plus, no one came to see the gen ed kids, just the hero courses. But it wasn't really fair, and Izuku couldn't help but worry that the unfairness of it would ruin their chances. After all, this was their only chance to join the hero course. If they tried to join after the first Sports Festival, they'd just be too far behind on their classes. It was now or never.

And that was nerve wraking, because right now, them moving on was relying on his hasitly made plan.

Shinsou reached out to grab his hand, "It'll be fine, Izuku. If this doesn't work, we can find another way. It'll be fine."

Izuku nodded slowly, "Yeah, yeah okay..."

Then, they got into their positions - Izuku was clinging to Shinsou like an oversized backpack, and Shinsou was crouched low, ready to jump up at any second. The area was getting crowded, but with Izuku's stinger no one got very close, which Izuku was grateful for. If they were crowded, it'd make taking off a lot harder....

And then, Present Mic yelled over the speakers, "GO!!!"
