Our story begins in Domino city. The sun is just starting to set on one of the nicest days of the year. Yugi Muto, currently in the form of his alter ego, is emerging from a card shop downtown having just purchased some new pieces in preparation of the upcoming Battle City tournament.
Spirit POV
"Wow they really had some good traps on this circuit," Yugi calls from his floating vantage point.
"Indeed Yugi. Having cards like this will surely strengthen our strategy for the upcoming tournament. I just hope . . ." I trailed off as a strange sensation washed over me, filling my chest with a unique mixture of fear, and what I could only describe as joy? The feeling passed as quickly as it had come, leaving me all the more confused as to what had happened. It was then I could hear Yugi trying to get my attention.
"Pharaoh?" "Pharaoh are you all right?"
Shaking my head to clear the sudden unease, I returned his gaze with a smile.
"I'm sorry Yugi, I just had the strangest sensation."
"Like what?" asked Yugi curiously, clearly not having shared the experience.
"Like something big is coming, a storm brewing on the horizon."
"Well, I'm not sure of a storm in this weather," Yugi replies, "But I have a hard time believing this tournament is just another chance for Kaiba to show off.
"You're right about that Yugi, I'm sure we're in for quite a show!"
The pair share a laugh and begin walking down the street unaware of the cloaked figure running desperately directly towards them.
